Some years ago, a man arrested for a violent crime against a Waynesboro Police Officer was placed in a holding cell inside of the Police Department to await trial.

Before the trial date was to come, however, the man hung himself in the cell.

To this day, the Waynesboro Police Department is said to be haunted by his angry spirit, and some officers have claimed to have felt an evil presence, especially late at night, in the back areas of the Police Station.
