From the Ashes We Will Rise

There now lie only ashes here;
The dust of shattered dreams,
The pieces of broken lives.
A burnt and twisted skeleton stands,
Stands as a gravestone;
A gravestone for a grave that will be long remembered
Remembered as long as our great nation stands.

Yesterday we witnessed horror;
We saw daylight turned to darkness,
Brother used as a sword to slay brother,
Sister used to slay Sister, American used to slay American,
And now there lie here only ashes.

But from the ashes we will rise,
Reborn in glory like the Phoenix,
Victorious, though not unscathed.
For though the Devil may have his dance,
We will hunt his advocates to the earth's ends,
And there will there be Hell to pay.

The Cowards' blades have missed their mark,
And the blow that was meant to cripple has failed,
Striking, instead, a sleeping beast and awakening it.
The Dragon has been roused for battle,
With its scales of Red, teeth of White, and eyes of Blue,
And none shall stay its rage.

For now the Beast will seek its prey,
Seek to avenge its murdered children,
Seek to ensure the security of those that still live.
And when it finds its honorless quarry,
Its rage will consume them utterly,
Until there is naught left but Ashes.
