To the Death

—Mentioned are those that have either died more than once, or have died once and are still alive. For instance, Gowron and David Marcus, both prominent characters, have both been killed, but neither of them counts because we haven’t seen them since. But Elim Garak’s death in “The Emperor’s New Cloak” does count, because we see him afterward (it doesn’t matter if he’s from an alternate universe). I am not counting incidents such as the last part of “All Good Things” or “Year of Hell,” where basically everyone dies, and “Cause and Effect,” where the Enterprise and her crew get blown up four times (and that’s just on-screen). So far, DS9’s Weyoun has the record by far...can anyone think of a character that tops him for number of deaths? Ah yes, one more thing: off-screen deaths only count if they occur between two episodes that the character has appeared in. So Tasha Yar’s second death (which occured between when she returned to the past with the Enterprise-C in “Yesterday’s Enterprise” and when her daughter Sela relates this to Picard in “Redemption” part 2) counts. Likewise, Weyoun #5’s death (which occured between “Shadows and Symbols” and “Treachery, Faith, and the Great River”) also counts, but the deaths of Weyouns #1-3 don’t count, because they occured before we first met him.

Tasha Yar—2

“Skin of Evil”—killed by Armus the oil slick

“Redemption”—we hear that the “Yesterday’s Enterprise” version of Tasha was killed while attempting to escape Romulus

Weyoun—5

“To the Death”—#4 was killed by Omet’iKlan for “questioning his soldiers’ loyalty”

“Treachery, Faith, and the Great River”—we learn that #5 was killed in a ‘transporter accident’ (actually a deliberate act by his good friend Damar) and #6 commits suicide

“Till Death Do Us Part”—#7’s neck was broken by a rather angry Worf

“What You Leave Behind”—#8 was shot by Elim Garak

*Note: we don’t really know for certain whether Garak shot #8 or #9; there was a subtle suggestion in one of the shows that #8 might have been terminated by the Founder (in other words, Weyoun may have actually died 6 times)

Harry Kim—2

“Emanations”—allowed himself to be killed so that he could get back to his own reality, but was revived by 24th century medicine

“Deadlock”—blown out of a hull breach, but a copy of him from another dimension stepped in

B’Elanna Torres—1

“Fury”—killed by Evil Kes, but spared when the timeline was changed

“Hide & Q”—killed by ‘viscious animal things,’ but restored to life by Q

William Riker—1

“Yesterday’s Enterprise”—alternate version was killed when a console on the bridge exploded during a battle with the Klingons
