Starfell
The Commonwealth of Starfell is a country steeped in religion and
penitence. Only a few decades ago, Starfell was not so much a country but rather
a collection of towns and farms. Anyone even remotely familiar with the name
Starfell, associates this country with is devotion to god and to religion.
In the early years, the people had followed or worshipped many of the gods, not just one specific one. During the harvest season, in the hours of twilight, the sky shades of pink and orange already, a fire show erupted for all to see for miles. Most were heading home or finishing up in their fields but they all seemed to feel the need to lift their gaze to the heavens where they believe they met the eyes of Lord Aereth himself. A glowing 'fireball" seems to descend from the heavens themselves, the white tail carving its path across the sky, turning it a deeper shade of orange and red.
Only silence followed. In the days after that night, hundreds of search parties scoured the countryside, mountains and valleys for any remnants of this holy relic. Nothing was found till the start of winter, at the end of the harvest, a farmer, named Olen Loreen and his daughter traveled to the edge of their lands in search of a lost animal from their farm, whereupon they found a black hole with a light covering of recently fallen snow. The farmer leaned over and peered into the hole, trying to see what would have caused this. The moment his eyes became fixated on the object, a white light blanketed his face. He could not look away, the feeling of calmness overcoming him as his daughter pulled him back. As the light faded, the daughter realized whatever happened left her father blind so she carefully led him back to their house, the distance seeming endless.
The farmers, first born son, also named Olen Loreen, went to the end of the land to see what did that to his father. He returned days later, a shimmering cobalt blue rock in his grasp. As soon as the rumors of this spread, people from all over came to visit the farmer, saying that he was chosen by the god himself and in turned his family blessed. Though never regaining his sight, the farmer remained peaceful and calm. The people of the land named the rock the "Heart of Aereth" while city of Divinia, on the western coast, soon became the capital city. The son, Olen Loreen II became the first holy ruler of Starfell, ruling from Divinia with the Heart of Aereth deep within its vaults to keep it safe from any who would abuse it.
Modern day Starfell is ruled by the kind and pious Saint Olen Loreen III who continues to rule much like his predecessor. All people, regardless of any ranking are treated as equals, sharing in the bounty that the gods have blessed them with. Because of this view, there is no known crime in Starfell safe for any travelers who may commit one. Most of the populace are overly righteous and some tend to try to push their beliefs onto others which oddly enough makes the country very welcoming to almost everyone. The see people as lambs that need only be show the right path home which to them is the ways of their god.
The Heart of Aereth still resides in Starfell though a short time ago, it was rumored that the god himself destroyed it into six pieces. His reasoning that people all over the land were taking life for granted, not cherishing the life given to them. There is some truth to this though no one save Saint Olen himself is able to see or even touch the broken pieces which have been placed somewhere only he knows. Because the stone is a holy relic which instills not only happiness but a sense of peace to the people of Starfell. a replica of the original whole stone was created and placed in the Holy Temple in Divinia so all may gaze upon its beauty.
