Solenthe
Several
decades ago, Solenthe's main populous consisted of hunters and trappers. The
Aerithian Forest was filled with an over abundance of wild game, the meat used
for food and the furs for warmth and clothing. Most of the homes were arranged
more like trading posts, always set around the streams coming from the mountains
so they had a constant supply of fresh water. Enjoying the simplicity of life
here, more people eventually started migrating into Solenthe, spreading out into
the valleys and mountain side to build their homes. Anyone who lived in the
forests continued to either hunt or trap while those in the mountains started to
mine. You may wonder about those in the valleys. Well they served as a
middleman, trading goods with those in both the mountains and in the forests,
becoming a town of merchants and shops, with things readily available.
After a few years, miners struck gold...well that is the one they remember most. These beautiful mountains were literally a mountain of wealth just waiting to be tapped. Along with gold, miners also found gems and ores. Like a tidal wave, people (mostly dwarven) from all over flooded into Solenthe. With wealth and people comes the need for leadership and Solenthe was no different. A number of prominent leaders arose, most of them just those who became too rich too quickly and wished to throw it around. They never lasted too long. A group, consisting of miners as well as merchants decided that they did need at least some for of government since sooner of later they would be invaded because of their prosperity.
After many debates, they finally decided on a monarchial style of government. Now all they had to do was select who they wanted to name the first king of Solenthe. As the same time as they were debating over this, the city now known as Kingshire was being built high in the Cradle Mountains. Surrounded by the beautiful granite peaks providing the necessary protection the city would need from any outsiders, Kingshire was the heart of Solenthe. With the city complete, they finally appointed their first king...Richard Tellane, a local diamond and gold miner. King Tellane ruled Solenthe in almost the same way he did his mines, efficient and profitable. After only a short time, Solenthe became the wealthiest land in all of Destiny.
All was well so no one worried too much when the king fell ill with a simple cold. Without any sort of notice, the king was found dead in his bedchamber two weeks later. Apparently due to complications with his illness. The throne was given to his son, Prince Martine Tellane. Many ideas filled this young ones head as he ascended the throne, all of them ended up raising the tax rates. Now King Martine, he strove to make this growing country's army a force to be reckoned with. He wanted a formidable army so people would think twice before trying to invade. He succeeded beyond anyone's imagination though the army is mainly a defensive force it could easily be used to attack (though they would only attack if provoked). The people of Solenthe are revered around the world as honorable and proud.
Today, Solenthe is ruled by Queen Jennea, the daughter and only heir of King Martine who though still lives, is unable to perform his kingly duties. Queen Jennea, with her fiery red hair, rules Solenthe with her sharp wit and short temper. She has chosen no one to rule at her side as king but she is still young and you never know she may choose one in the future. Following in her father's footsteps, she keeps the military force in top condition in case the need arises where they must be used. Solenthe still holds the title as the wealthiest country in all the land.
