Abstract

GeoMAPro 1.2 was developed using ESRI MapObjects and C++.
It manages digital maps in ArcView format (ESRI shapefile), ARC/INFO coverages and imagines.
The software is divided in four modules:

• GeoMAPro Print - viewing and printing maps;
• GeoMAPro Standard - viewing, searching and querying maps' databases, reports, hot links;
• GeoMAPro Builder - creating and editing maps;
• GeoMAPro Network Module - optimal path between two or more points, closest facilities and service areas.

All modules allows you to customize the user name and password for restricted access to the application modules and functions.

Introduction

    S.C. GEOTER PROIECT S.R.L. offers you specific GIS applications, GIS processing, topography, geodesy and cadastre. The company is authorized by the ONCGC - National Bureau for Cadastre, Geodesy and Cartography and authorized to work for RENEL - National Agency for Electricity, including the nuclear domain and SNP – National Petroleum Company. The main users of our products are companies who are interested in topographical, geodesic and cadastre projects and GIS applications.
    Our company uses the latest technology for geo-topo measurement accuracy and computed data processing to build digital maps and associated databases.
    The company is divided in two main divisions: a powerful geo-topo department and a software department, capable to create professional GIS software.
    GeoMAPro is one of the company's major projects. It's a GIS application based on ESRI MapObjects which allow users, through a user-friendly interface, to perform all necessary operation upon a digital map:

• Creating and editing maps;
• View, zoom, pan on maps;
• Changing the way of representation for different maps;
• Searching data;
• Query and spatial selection;
• Printing;
• Optimal route between two points, the closest facilities, service area.

    GeoMAPro is now on second version, including new facilities for editing and modifying digital maps, a new network module and also allowing the users to define their own hot links on map elements.
 

Product overview

    GeoMAPro was created for working with digital maps in ESRI ShapeFile format and the ArcInfo coverage format.
    It also can load and work image files: *.bmp, *.dib ; TIFF (Tag Image File Format) *.tif, *.tff, *.tiff ; ERDAS *.gis, *.lan ; BIL (Band interleaved by line) multiband images *.bil ; BIP (Band interleaved by pixel) multiband images *.bip ; BSQ (Band sequential) multiband images *.bsq ; IMPELL RLC(Run-length compressed) files *.rlc ; Sun rasterfiles *.rs, *.ras; *.sun, coverage file from ArcINFO *.tat,*.pat,*.rat,*.adf and PCArcInfo pat.dxf,aat.dxf . It imports data from .DXF (Acad Export) and from .TXT, .DBF.
    On join operations between one layer's database and an external table can be used .DBF, .MDB (Access), DB (Paradox) or RDBMS as SQL SERVER, ORACLE or INFORMIX.
    The software allows the customization of the user name and password for restricted access to the application modules and functions.

• Service area utilities :

• obtain the area by specifying the maximum service cost

Minimum hardware requirements: PENTIUM, 32 MB RAM ; 20 MB free on hard disk; Windows 95/98 or NT;
resolution 1024 x 768 with 256 colors.
 
 

Cadastral utility


    The product has been used as a base for cadastral application in the Arges district. The customer can easily add specific informations in cadastral databasesand  obtain any information on the land characteristics and/or its owner.

    The software has been also used as a base for a specific telecomunication cadastral module, implemented for ROMTELECOM Arges.

Conclusions
 
    GeoMAPro is a flexible and viable GIS product, with a large scale applicability, from truism to telecommunications and oil industry. It offers at the same time powerful analysis tools like queries, hot links and network analysis.
    At this moment, the GIS team extends the software's toolkit towards specific cadastral functions for oil and natural gas industry.
