Lily heard Sullivan mutter and turned to look up at the vent. There, pulse rifle in hand, was Parker. Blood was dripping from his arm and he looked like he had been in a fight but he was in no way crippled. He jumped down from the vent without talking. He looked up and down the hall worriedly and then he spoke, “We have to get everyone out of here, now!”
He tore off down the hall where Jennie, Sinclair, and Cameron were guarding the civilians, accompanied by the marines and the man that they did not know. “What are you waiting here for? Let's go!”
Kevin heard him and ran down the hall that he was checking to see his friend. “What the hell happened to you? One of the civilians disappeared, help us check around here for him.”
Adam who had been checking the hall with Kevin turned to them and yelled "Hey, come back here, I need some help with thi...” he was cut off as something quickly swung down from the vent above and grabbed him, pulling him up. He screamed and fired upward, blood of whatever was up there came down and Adam suddenly stopped screaming.
Kevin Parker and Jennie ran over and screamed up the vent at Adam. But soon Jenny’s voice interrupted them, “Uh, guys.” She sounded scared and nervous, “That blood is burning through the floor.”
Both marines turned to look. “That’s what I was about to say, those xeno things are in here, that’s what pulled me into the vent, that civilian is gone let’s get out of here. They must be evacuating now, lets go.”
“Yeah, lets get out of...” Gun fire interrupted Kevin as Sullivan yelled at them.
“My god, There are more of them, lets get the hell out of here!” Sullivan was yelling and firing at the same time the civilians panicked and took off down the hall screaming with no marines following them.
“Wait!” cried Lily as she took off down the hall after them. Parker, who had the most adrenaline in him was able to catch up fast and was able to catch up in time for the first action. The two marines opened fire on an alien that had burst down a hall at light speed and was able to get it before it was able to do any harm. But the civilians had not stopped and were now at the door that had to be opened to give the access to the landing platform. The two marines rushed to catch up, but the civilians did not wait. They hit the button and opened the door that revealed a dozen aliens running down the hall towards them.
“Sh*t, Shut the door Parker yelled but was to late to save all the civilians one of them had been waiting for the door to open and was in the hall seconds after the door opened the civilians screamed and the two marines pushed their way to the front of the crowd to help the civilians, the alien had already done its damage thought, It had swung its tail and killed one civilian and injured another. A close one was able to scream and try to run past but the alien shot out its claw and stuck it through the civilian’s stomach. Then he grabbed one last victim and his jaws went through the civilian’s head, as it released him its head was blown to pieces by the two marines. The acid of its exploding head burnt the nearest civilian to death. Lily hit the button to close the door seconds before the aliens could get through, but it did not close soon enough and an alien tried to get through. Although its head got trough it got stuck in the door. Lily went flying backwards knocked unconscious as the alien’s head hit her in the chest. Parker was able to catch her with one arm and leave the other one open to blow the alien back into the hall from witch it came, only its head didn’t make it back. “I love this shotgun,” he said before turning to see the rest of the marines and civilians slowly moving down the hall towards them. The y was shooting while running which slowed them down quite a bit.
Kevin rushed up to hit the button to open the door but Parker stopped him, “We can’t go through there, there are tons of those damn things!”
“Go left through this door a civilian yelled, it’s engineering and it leads to the landing bay!” a civilian yelled over the sound of gunfire and screams.
Parker brought Lily in first to keep her out of the action followed by several marines and the surviving civilians. Still in the battle, Samuel was unloading his smartgun on the oncoming aliens. He was the last one left in the hall. The aliens split up and got out of the hall. He stopped firing and turned around and ran to the door where Sullivan was waving for him to come in. “Quick! There's one behind you!” But He didn’t hear the whole thing.
Sullivan didn’t even try to save him it was too late. He got back inside and slammed the door. Inside of the door they were in a thin hall leading down to a large work area with tools and parts of ships strewn out everywhere. Parker, Lily, and a marine named Strece were all getting first aid by Jennie, the only surviving medic. “Jennie, work fast, I don’t want to get to the landing platform after the ships leave. What time do the ships leave any way?” Kevin turned his attention to the man who had got them in the first place.
“They leave in two hours. But the ships aren’t on this landing platform.” there was a sudden silence in the room as he spoke.
“What do you mean those ships aren’t there? Where the hell are they!” Kevin yelled in anger.
The man now became angry and stood up and yelled in Kevin’s face, “ You will not speak to your superior you dumb ass marine! I am Lieutenant G. Richardson and I am the highest-ranking marine here! If you yell at me one more time I’ll feed you to the bugs! Do you get me?”
Kevin was silenced, he had not thought about the fact that this man had out ranked him. His angry expression gone he replied calmly. “Sir yes sir. But just where are these ships then?”
“They’re outside the building in front, they were in on the platform but someone reported bug activity and we didn’t want to risk it. We were heading to the platform to get an APC to drive around the building until we go tout front.”
“Why were we not informed of the alien threat before?”
“I didn’t want to cause panic, if you...” He was cut off as a very distinct sound came from further down the hall. A hiss that everyone knew came from an alien. Sullivan turned first; he was furthest down the hall and started back towards the rest of the people. The alien quickly started down the hall using Sullivan as a barricade so n one could shoot it without hitting Sullivan.
“Move it! He’s right behind you now!” Kevin yelled.
Sullivan instead stopped and turned around. His hand shot down for his pistol with lightning speed and he pulled the gun out and let off two shots. Instead of exploding and showering him in acid as everyone feared, the shot merely knocked the alien backwards stopping it’s pursuit. Sullivan Started running again and soon reached safety, the alien steadied itself and started running again, but this time several marines let out a few short bursts and it exploded spraying acid everywhere but not touching anyone. But more angry hisses came from down the hall and the marines panicked, not knowing whether to back out of the hall into the old battle ground or to stand there ground the tried to think.
Kevin moved back a bit farther to find that there was nothing they could do. “Let’s rock!” He called out and raised his gun and fired the first few shots.
