Jesus of Nazareth - Jesus The Christ - The Hope of The World
The world looked at me, with a hideous grin it said "You can't do it"
I shook my head, turned away and thought "Maybe not"
They followed after me, criticizing all that I did, telling me "I was wrong"
For years I wondered and forced myself to think "Perhaps So"
I looked in the mirror and saw a fool, a degenerate piece of trash, lost and forgotten
Time passed, the image in the mirror become worse, how dreaded I was
The world stood behind me, looking over my shoulder, mocking me and laughing
The laughter increased, growing day by day
It was then that I recognized the pain hidden behind the laughter
The pain that forced those inwardly similiar to myself to hate me
To hate all those who did not fit in, who did not desire to be part of a larger crowd
It was then that the voice began calling to me, from somewhere within something had awoken
A curiosity had been born. What could cause so much pain?
I believe then that I saw the hollowness inside of myself, the piece of trash was not me
The piece of trash was a hole within me, a gaping wound, a disease I was born with
If it had been physical my body would have never made it
I realized then that I was already dead and the curiosity grew
The world laughed, now obviously afraid. Afraid of what?
The voice called to me, trying to comfort me, telling me that it knew me
I was interested, but a part of me hated the curiosity, hated the interest
The voice continued, "Saying to me, I am all that you need. I am the way"
I tried harder to listen, but I also tried harder to hate, to hate those who hated me
The voice said to me "I am all that you need, I know you, and I am the way"
The world began to move back, it's laughter began dying
I knew it too could hear the voice, the encouragement, the hope, the ultimate love
In the midst of such hatred, such wickedness, such evil, had arisen a light
A light that would not, that could not die. A light that would never dim
A light that continued to grow, to become brighter, a light that knew no fear
A light that knew only love, only encouragement, only patience
A light that the world thought it had extinguished
I wanted to laugh, to laugh at the world. But I could not.
The voice said, "Do not become as they are, that is what they wish"
The voice told me, "I am all that you need, I am life, I know you, and I will help you"
I sit and cried, helpless, afraid, and lonely still, but not destroyed
The voice comforted me, saying, "I know you, I love you, and I am all that you need"
Part of me wanted to hate the voice, to hate the life, but part of me would not
The world tempted me, teasing me, enticing me, and I failed
The world erupted in laughter, at my obvious mistake
In my agony and defeat, I began to hate, but then the voice
The voice said to me "I am all that you need, do not become as they are"
I lowered my head in shame, "how", I thought, "can anything love me"
The voice told me "I am the way, I am the life, seek me and you will find me"
I thought for a long while, I transgressed, I failed, and for awhile I was blind
The world laughed, but the laughter was no longer the same
The laugher was laced with fear, for the light was there
The light could never dim, could never die, would never die
Then the voice said to me "I am all that you need. I am the way, come back to me"
I bowed my head and cried, I felt alone and broken, tossed aside, worthless
But the voice said to me "I am the life, I love you. I am all that you need"
As the days progressed, the struggles continued, part of me hated, part of me despised
The voice endured, the voice was patient "I am all that you need, I am the way"
I said to the voice, I want to be with you. You have never hurt me,
you have never laughed at me, have never lied to me, have never tried to kill me
but I said, "I am a fool, I don't know what to do, please show me, give me wisdom."
"I know that you are my Lord, but I am a poor servant. I don't know what to do."
The voice said to me "I am the way, I am all that you need. I will never lie to you"
The voice told me "I will not hurt you, no one shall hurt you, you shall never die"
I said to the voice "But I am a fool, I am a failure, I don't know what to do"
The voice said to me "I am all that you need, I am the way, I am the life, and I am the truth"
The voice said to me "I am the answer to the problem unseen, to the situation unknown"
The voice said to me "I am here tomorrow and I hold the keys. I am all that you need"
I cried out to the voice, "But I am a fool, I'll fail you, I can't win"
The voice said to me "I am the way, I am all that you need. I will stand by you"
The voice said to me "I am all that you need, regardless, the way is through me"
The voice said to me "I have overcome and I have chosen you to be with me, I am all that you need"
I begged the voice to forgive me, to purify me, to purge me of evil, to cleanse me of wickedness
The voice said to me "Through me you are clean, I am all that you need. I am the way and my reward is with me"
I said to the voice, "Lord, I will try, but please help me."
The voice said to me "I will never leave you, I will help you. I am all that you need, I am the way"
The voice said to me "Through me you are clean, always remember, I am all that you need"
The voice said to me "Know that through me there is hope, I am the life"
"I bring hope to the hopeless and life to lifeless, I am all that is needed"
Then the voice brought comfort and peace to me
