...Quark Nugget generator

Quark-nugget power generator and Quark torpedo

Quark nugget: Essentially a gigantic atomic nucleus. Normal atomic nuclei are limited to a certain size due to the electrostatic repulsion, eventually blowing up the nucleus. Now, if one was to construct the nucleus using protons and neutrons impregnated with strange quarks, a rarer form of quark, you could keep growing your positively charged 'nucleus', because the strange quarks would hold it together. They`re formed in two places: the Big Bang and neutron stars. Specially modified ships with powerful scanners and tractor beams can harvest them.

It will repel normal nuclei, due to its enormous positive charge, but will suck in neutrons since they have no charge. At that point, it`ll subatomically fission the neutrons and release a huge amount of energy; the free quarks are then encorporated into the mix. Its perfect for disposal of radioactive waste. And once the nugget has grown to a sufficient size, approximately 2 million tons in mass and 20 centimeters in diameter, you hit it with heavy ions to cause it to split into two. And a normal sized quark-nugget can release twice as much power as an antimatter generator at 1\4 the size, plus be self-generating. Any form of matter is fuel; deuterium, tritium, carbon, even air. Anything with neutrons inside of it. The nuggets also generate a enormous gravity field mere millimeters from their surface; almost 60,000 G`s. But within half a yard it decays to merely a half-G influence. Hence, gravity fields can be used to control them. Magnetic fields can be used too, but with a corresponding increase in the initial energy needs for the core.

There is a danger, however. One must be careful to not feed it an overabundance of negatively-charged matter; any baryon that is negatively charged. If the quark nugget becomes negatively charged, all it needs is a destabilizing force to cause it to go BOOM, all of its mass converting to energy in one massive burst. This is where quark torpedos come in; negatively charged quark-matter nuggets are shunted into a torpedo shell via gravity ducts. A standard magnetic field keeps the nugget separate from everything else until detonation, at which time a magnetic compression burst destabilizes the quark matter.

Generator- The quark nugget is held at the center of a gravitic containment field. 8 redundant 30 MW polarity-modulated graviton generators are situated around the center in a spherical arrangement; they are polarized such that the waves interact to produce a stretched spheroid. This containment system has two ports: one outlet for the plasma(really streamers of high-energy electrons and protons that materialize straight from the pure energy release), the other an inlet for the ion injector to control the size of the nugget, and to produce spare quark torpedos if needbe.
