This was a tour during daylight hours at Waverly. It is located off of Dixie Highway in Louisville Ky. The tour guides name is Ron and we only have 2/3 of this investigation complete.
The Story:
Back in the early 1900's Louisville was hit by TB really hard. They decided to build a sanitorium on the hill next to Dixie Highway to house all of the people with TB. Many people would die everyday and so body chutes were installed so the other living patients wouldnt see the mass amounts of bodys being shipped out everyday. After a cure for TB was found Waverly was shut down, it was later reopened as an old folks home and now is completely shut down and guards are posted as to keep trespassers to a minimum. There have been many ghost stories associated with this place. One involves a litle girl who will ead you from floor to floor, another involves a woman who is bleeding running to the gate and screaming, and yet another one tells of a phantom hurse climbing the driveway, stopping at the main entrance and then going out the service road.
The Investigation:
we arrived about 3:00 in the afternoon. The group consisted of Mark, Paul, Geoff, Peanut, Adrian, and Jeremy. We had to sign a waiver and then we went in. We were shown around the building and told of weird goings on in the place. One story goes that the guards were playing manhunt one night (yes, they know the place so well they can move around without flashlights) when one of the men saw a floating head in one of the rooms. He screamed and made his way downstairs before passing out. He hasn't been back since. Another story we were told was that one night ron (who is head of security) and another guy were outside and saw a small orange glow from the third floor. thinking it was someone who broke in smoking a cigarette ron told the other guy to wait and watch it and tell him on his 2-way if it moved and he was going to go inside and catch him. When ron got to the top there was no one to be found. The man below said the light disappeared right before ron came to the rooms balcony. We were taken to this area and told that there was a woman who liked to smoke cigarettes. smoking was banned from patient use, but the nurses could smoke. this woman would steal the butts from the nurses ashtrays and smoke them and then leave them on the ledge of a balcony, some people have taken pictures and there will be a line of cigarette butts in one picture, but nothing in another. we left because it had been raining and some parts of it were not accessable due to flooding.
