The Amityville Horror (2005) remake

The Amityville Horror (2005)

"There's something evil in my house." -Kathy

This is one of the best ghost movies I've seen in awhile. Basically this film follows the same plot outline as the original film. The house is different (and creepier I have to say), and there are certian details that differed from the original film, but also added more action that today's movie goers crave.

This film included more detail (and added some fictional detail also), including more information of the house's history (which turned out to be quite interesting) that involved an indian burial ground and whatnot. The original film didn't tell much about this so it left you kind of confused.

One reason I love this movie is because of it's creativity. They took an old haunted house story, rebuilt it, and in my opinion made it much better than the original movie. The scares were really creative, and all of them got me. I think the one that scared me the most was the one during the sex scene between George and Kathy. I won't tell you what it is, but it was scary as hell and I nearly jumped out of my seat.

Again, these are only a few scares in the movie, and there are plenty more! Ryan Reynolds' performance was quite different from his normal characters he plays, and he was really good here. The movie does throw in some cliches here and there, and half the movie we have Ryan Reynolds shirtless showing off his six pack (to attract all the teenage girls I assume. When I was in the theater I heard numerous comments from girls saying "Wow, he's got a great body!"), but overall it's no big deal. The scene with the babysitter in the closet was very creepy and everyone in the movie theater was cringing during one of the moments in that scene. Anyways, I won't spoil this, but you should see it.
