RAPIST & KILLER: William Payton

Payton stabbed a sleeping woman and raped her as she lay dying, and also attempted to kill another woman and her child. He was convicted of the savage rape and murder and he has had his death sentence overturned - because a judge didn't tell the jury deciding his fate that they must consider evidence that the killer had found God and become religious while in jail.
