Summer 1961 - The above photo was taken at the "Braes" Tullibody and the occasion was the official presentation of Queen Scout Awards to three Tullibody Boy Scouts. These were the first Queen Scout Awards to be received for some years in Tullibody. The previous Queen Scout award was made to Andrew Jamieson, about 5 years before. Those receiving the Awards were, from left to right, Robert Anderson, Duncan Brember and John Frew. Making the awards was the County Commissioner for Scouts, Major Ramsay Tullis. Overlooking the event was Ian Cameron, the Tullibody Group Scout Master and some members of the Tullibody troop. The elder scouts are, Ian Pryde, Jim Sommerville and Douglas Anderson on the left; on the right next to John Frew are, Philip Fotheringham and Ian Gilmore. Major Tullis was a great supporter of the Tullibody Scouts and made the Tullis grounds available for major fund raising events for the Tullibody Scouts. Mrs Tullis was also very supportive of the local Scouts and Guides, and was in fact also the County Commissioner for Guides. It was during the Major's tenure as County Commissioner that the Tullibody Scout Hut moved from it's post war site of being on Stirling Road, immediately in alignment with Crofts Road, to that of its present location behind Abercromby School. - Picture and information from John Frew
