Tuberculosis, (or TB) is a disease caused by the bacteria tubercle bacillus being breathed in. It attacks the lungs, and can spread to any other part of your body. TB was once the number one leading cause of death in the United States. It is a very old disease, this has been proved because it has been found in in Egyption mummies. About 35 million Americans have been infected at one time with TB, but can resist the disease (meaning it doesn't affect you). There is a cure for it now, but just imagine the time when there was no cure for it, and think about just how many people died.
