Congratulations you have lived through the Civil War! You fought the heated battles and stood strong for your side, now it is time to show off that pride. While you were fighting in the Civil War you kept a journal of your memories, now is the time to show it off to your family, friends, and children.
Your task is to complete a journal based on memories of the Civil War. First you must pick your identity. We all know there was two sides, now is the time to choose the one you want to be a part of. Once you pick your side, you must have a journal entry describing in detail the uniform you wore. Be sure to include a colored picture of it also.
- First you will choose a blue or gray folder. The color depends on what side you choose to be on.
- Once you choose your folder, your first page should be a colored picture of the uniform you wore.
- You will include at least three maps in your journal that show places you have been. You will need to describe in detail the importance of each map.
- You will describe in detail your opposing sides prison camp. The description will include a picture of the camp and an essay describing the camp.
- Next you will search for a Civil War song. Give a description of the song, tell what instruments the song is played with, and why you liked this song. Place a copy of the song in your folder.
- Visit different Civil War monument websites. Pick one that you would have liked to visit after you fought in the war. In your journal, describe the monument and why you chose to visit it.
- Once you have chosen all your pictures, written articles on them, and arranged them in your journal you will present it to the class. Extra points are available if you dress in your uniform for the presentation.
