·         Using Lowry and BioRad techniques, performed protein analysis on blood derivatives.

·         Produced Alpha Interferon and related lymphokines including  Interlukin II and Tumor Necrosis Factor/.

·         Utilized techniques including tissue cultures, filtration, ultrafiltration, and column chromatography.

·         Developed computer programs to perform calculations for protein analysis and for cell counts and viabilities.

 

Epidemiology Laboratory                                                                                    May 1974 – June 1980

Research Technician

·         Assisted in 5-year multi-state study of transfusion transmitted viruses to identify Hepatitis C, which ultimately contributed knowledge to AIDS research.

·         Interviewed patient/participants in New York, Long Island, and New Jersey.

·         Studied blood donors who were antigen carriers in order to identify how Hepatitis B was transmitted.
