In January 1966 Second Lt.Carold Rex Waite of the United States Marine Corps and his wife Rosemary moved into a home in Port Royal, South Carolina to begin their life together and raise their son Randy. In 1966 (less than 6 months after moving to Port Royal) Carold ,like so many other service men of that era ,and his family said their goodbyes and Carold boarded a plane to go and serve his country and begin his tour of Vietnam.

On Monday March 6th 1967 sadly Carold Rex Waite was killed in the providence of Quang Tri in the country of South Vietnam just 6 months before his retirement and only 120 days till he saw his family again
