ACT FOUR
FADE IN:
The bridge BREAKS APART around Sonic. It is almost ready to drop him.
SONIC
Only one chance!
Sonic falls as the bridge breaks.
SONIC (CONT’D)
Spin-and-win time!
Quickly, Sonic spins and drives himself right
through the canyon wall on the other side.
ON KNUCKLES
Knuckles saw him escape.
KNUCKLES
No!
Sonic then BURSTS out of the ground behind
Knuckles.
SONIC
(like a school
teacher)
That wasn’t very
nice.
ANGLE ON KNUCKLES
Knuckles is on the edge of the canyon. He WAVES his arms to keep himself balanced.
KNUCKLES
Whoa!
Whoa!
SONIC
(teasing)
Hmm, need a hand?
(claps)
Ahh, just a little joke there.
Knuckles begins tilting back! He SWEATS a lot and tries harder to keep
himself on the island.
KNUCKLES
Hey, you’re not... gunna... let me drop, are ya?
SONIC
(teasing)
Hmm, that’s a tough
question, you know.
ON KNUCKLES’ FEET
The soil around him begins to break.
ON KNUCKLES
Knuckles tries harder and harder to keep himself up.
SONIC
See how YOU like being dropped
in a pit and threatened on.
Finally, Knuckles looses his foothold!
SLOW MOTION
Knuckles falls BACK.
Sonic REACHES and GRABS Knuckles’ arm.
REGULAR MOTION
Sonic PULLS Knuckles up.
KNUCKLES
Why did you save me?
SONIC
Let's talk, bud.
WIPE TO:
Aleena RACES at high speed, with the SWAT
Bots trailing her.
ALEENA
I hate Robotnik.
She looks ahead and GRINS. Then she turns around.
ALEENA (CONT’D)
Hey, SWAT Butts, come and get me!
Aleena SPEEDS UP, causing
the SWAT Bots to speed up. Soon, she HITS the breaks, causing a ton of
STEAM and DIRT to drag behind her. The
SWAT Bots are BLIND, and so is the FRAME covered in steam.

Find her!
Suddenly, they notice they are driving right
to the edge of the Floating Island.
WIDER
They all drive right off and DOWN! PAN UP to see Aleena at the
edge, smirking down at them.
ALEENA
Watch that first step.
She REVS up and DRIVES off.
WIPE TO:
Sonia & Manic are with Chomps. They are trying to remove the projector he
ate.
SONIA
There, there. We'll fix it.
MANIC
I guess.
Here goes nothing.
Manic PUMPS Chomps’ stomach and the projector
flies out of Chomps' mouth. Then Chomps gets up and LICK Manic like a dog.
MANIC
Yuck. Thanks... Ugh!
Sonia noticed the device, which is broken.
SONIA
A holo-projector! This
reeks of Robotnik!
MANIC
No, I think it's his
breath.
SONIC
(to Chomps)
So, big guy, where'd
you get this?
Chomps WHINES like a dog.
MANIC
Not gonna
work like that sis. Let me try.
SONIA
Fine.
MANIC
OK pal, one snap means yes, two snaps means
no. Got it?
Chomps makes one snapping sound from his
mouth.
SONIA
Oh, get over yourself.
MANIC
So, did you get that thing from a big round guy with a moustache?
Chomps makes TWO snaps.
MANIC
Aha... what about a big ugly dog kinda guy with a little sleazeball?
Chomps makes one snap.
SONIA
Sleet and Dingo! Nice work bro! Can
you take us to them?
Chomps makes one snap.
WIPE TO:
INT. EMERALD CHAMBER
Sleet, in the Dingo-boat, arrives in the
Emerald Chamber.
SLEET
Ahah!
Sleet BANGS the boat on the edge.
DINGO
Ouch!
Sleet MORPHS Dingo back, and Dingo SPITS out
the water.
DINGO (CONT’D)
Is that it?
SLEET
It's fantastic!
CUT TO:
EXT. JUNGLE
Sonic & Knuckles are talking right next
to a sacred pool.
KNUCKLES
Then the wolf-faces left the Floating Island.
SONIC
Left? Seems hard to believe, Knuck. They're always after
something.
KNUCKLES
(shocked)
The emerald!
Knuckles held out his hand and SUMMONS an
image of the Emerald chamber, where Sleet and Dingo GRAB the emerald.
KNUCKLES (CONT’D)
Nooooo!
All of a sudden, Sonic & Knuckles start
floating.
SONIC
Whoa, why am I floating?
KNUCKLES
You're not floating, the island is falling!
CUT TO:
EXT. HILL
Aleena runs up a hill, only to loose her
balance.
ALEENA
What’s going on?
CUT TO:
INT. EMERALD CHAMBER
The emerald chamber begins to crumble.
SLEET
Take this!
(tosses Dingo the emerald)
We have to get out of here!
SONIA (O.S.)
Sonia: Not so fast, Sleet!
Sonia, Manic, and Chomps arrive!
DINGO
Ahh, Soh-nia!
Sonia SHOOTS her laser, but Sleet and Dingo
dodge it. The blast makes a hole in the
wall.
SLEET
How convenient! Hurry, Dingo!
They run out the hole.
EXT. FLOATING ISLAND - HILL
Sleet and Dingo head toward their ship with
the emerald. From another angle, Sonic
and Knuckles arrive.
SONIC
Whoa, we gotta get
that emerald back or we're gonna splatter like bugs
when we hit!
Sonia, Manic, and Chomps arrive!
SONIA
Sonic! Up there! Sleet and Dingo!
ON SLEET AND DINGO
The two run to their Scorpion ship.
SLEET
Almost there! Hurry
Dingo!
Dingo looks back to see Sonia.
DINGO
Look! Ahh, it's Soh-nia
again!
Dingo hits a stone and accidentally drops the
emerald.
DINGO (CONT’D)
Oww! Uh-oh.
SLEET
Dingo, let's go!
(notices dropped
emerald)
Ahh, you IDIOT! SWAT
Bots move out! Retrieve the emerald!
Sleet presses a button, opening a door full
of SWAT Bots. The bots come running out.
SONIA
They're getting away!
Sleet and Dingo fly away.
SONIC
But not with the emerald! Look! Let's do it to it!
Knuckles dives to recover the
emerald and the song begins,
while they destroy the SWAT Bots.

Sleet and Dingo are flying their
aircraft. Then, Robotnik’s
voice EMERGES from the radio.
ROBOTNIK (O.S.)
(from radio)
Sleet! Dingo! You'd better have the emerald. If you don't,I'm going to have you robotosized
piece by piece! Where are you? ANSWER ME!
DINGO
Sleet, did you ever hear a little voice,
like, talking to you?
Sleet gets the radio.
EXT. SCORPION AIRCRAFT - FLYING
Sleet THROWS the radio out of the vehicle, then flies away.
WIPE TO:
EXT. HILL – EVENING
Aleena SITS on the hill with her radio.
ALEENA
(in radio)
Okay, Tails, give it
another try.
TAILS (O.S.)
(from radio)
Give me a minute.
Aleena PAUSED as she saw the busy light
activated from the disc drive.
ALEENA
(to self)
I can’t believe my
children almost died. Why was Knuckles
so foolish?
TAILS (O.S.)
(from radio)
You okay?
ALEENA
(in radio)
Yeah, I’m fine. My children got to
meet Knuckles.
TAILS (O.S.)
(from radio,
happily)
Knuckles? Really? How is the
old ‘kidna doing?
ALEENA
(in radio)
Oh, you know.
(pause)
The usual.
Tails CHUCKLED from the radio.
TAILS (O.S.)
(from radio)
Dang, I miss him. We ought to pay him a visit someday.
ALEENA
(in radio)
Yeah, but just analyze the data first.
TAILS (O.S.)
(from radio)
Right hang on.
(pause)
Done. We’re done, Aleena.
You can come home now.
ALEENA
(in radio)
Thanks.
Aleena TURNS OFF the radio, puts on her
motorcycle helmet, gets on her motorcycle, and DRIVES OFF.
DISSOLVE TO.
Knuckles is preparing some food on a rotating spit. He takes a chunk of the meet off, puts it on
a plate, and hands it to Sonic.
KNUCKLES
This is Crupnik, an
echidnan delicacy. It's good, here, eat
up!
Sonic SNIFFS it.
SONIC
Ahhh... thanks, Knux!
Sonic SLIDES the plate to Chomps secretly.
KNUCKLES
So, why did you come to Floating Island?
MANIC
To find our mom, Queen
Aleena.
KNUCKLES
Queen Aleena is your mom?
Why didn't you
say so! I knew her. She was here when I was just a kid. She taught me martial arts. I must say, you two are good.
SONIA
Been taking Wu Shu since I was five.
MANIC
I’m a street boy. I was born and raised a
fighter.
KNUCKLES
Hey, come here. I want to show you something.
Knuckles leads them to a wall with some writing on it.
KNUCKLES (CONT’D)
Your mom left this for you.
Sonia began reading it.
SONIA
In the final days of Robotnik's
tyranny—
ALEENA (V.O.)
(fades with Sonia’s
voice)
Allies will unite with my children. First among them will be Knuckles, guardian of
the Chaos Emerald.
ZOOM OUT to see Aleena on a hill, still on her
motorcycle, making a silhouette in the moon.
ON ALEENA
Aleena SMILED
ALEENA
But there will be more.
Aleena REVVED her motorcycle and drove off.
