INT. UNDERGROUND BASE
Sonia looks at the plans FRIGHTENINGLY.
SONIA
Sonic Hedgehog...
Sonia suddenly raised the paper above her
head in anger.
SONIA
(yelling)
You got the wrong plans!!!
MANIC entered the room after hearing his
sister's tantrum.
SONIC
I did?
Sonic asked innocently, taking the plans back
and looking at them.
SONIA
(angrily)
Sonic, these are Sleet and Dingo's vacation
forms! You were supposed to get the plans for
Robotnik's latest invention that Cyrus picked up!
SONIC
(innocently)
Whoops! Sorry, sis.
Sonic LAUGHED. He
turned on his heels.
SONIC (CONT’D)
I'll just go get 'em.
Sonia quickly grabbed his arms.
SONIA
Oh no you don't, Sonic. This
isn't the first time you messed this up. Remember last
week we had the adventure of our lives only because we didn't know Robotnik's
exact plans to destroy the Main Mobian Reservoir only
because YOU put chili stains on the plans! I can't trust you anymore!
Sonic cocked an eyebrow.
SONIC
Hey, lighten up, sis.
Ignoring him, she turned to her other
brother, the 'trustworthy' one she thought of him as.
MANIC
Manic, could you go to the Underground
Shelter and get the REAL plans from Cyrus?
Manic stood at the position of attention and
saluted.
MANIC
At your service, Princess!
ANOTHER ANGLE
Grabbing his hover board nearby, he exited
the base, hovered on his board, and started off.
ANGLE ON SONIC AND SONIA
SONIC
You didn't have to
send Manic out.
Sonic and Sonia turned around, but they
suddenly whipped back around as they heard Manic CRY OUT in pain off screen.
EXT. UNDERGROUND BASE
Sonic and Sonia dashed back out to see Manic
sprawled on the ground with a pipeline on his head.
SONIA
Oh my gosh!
Sonia raced to his side and heaved the pipe off of him.
SONIA
Manic, are you all right?!
Manic GROANED, rubbing his head with little Manic’s on hover boards flying around it.
MANIC
Major pain.
Sonia looked over to the pipeline.
SONIA
What happened?
Sonic strolled up, whistling in guilt. Sonia glared up at him.
SONIA
(sternly)
Why do I have a feeling that YOU’RE behind this?
Sonic slightly sweated.
SONIC
Weeell, maybe, because I, kinda...
(quickly)
... used the
pipeline as a running rack.
Sonia jumped to her feet, angered.
SONIA
Sonic! I've told you
NOT to run on them! They're very unstable!
SONIC
But it cuts 30 seconds from my usual run!
SONIA
You could get yourself hurt!
Sonia turned down to Manic, on his knees.
SONIA (CONT’D)
Or worse! You can
hurt someone else like you just did!
She helped Manic back
to his feet and started back inside with him.
SONIC
Hey, I'm sorry!
Sonic starting to follow. Sonia
shot a look back at him.
SONIA
Well, you know, Sonic? Sometimes
sorry isn't enough for the likes of you!
Sonic was shocked by
that remark.
SONIC
Hey, hey sis! You don't really mean that, do you?
Sonia turned and guided Manic inside.
SONIA
What I mean is that you're so thickheaded,
you wouldn't know any sense even if it bit you! Go eat
a chili dog, or something... I've an injury to heal.
Sonic started after them.
SONIC
Wait, up! Lemme help!
Out of painful frustration, Manic yelled his
remarks as well.
MANIC
No way, bro! You're
just an accident waiting to happen!
The doors closed behind him and Sonia in a
loud BOOM.
SILENCE
Sonic just stood there, wide-eyed and silent. Why are they so upset at him? He
remembered they're hurtful words.
SONIA (O.S.)
(echoing)
Sometimes sorry isn't enough for the likes of
you! You're so thickheaded, you wouldn't know any
sense even if it bit you! Go eat a chili
dog, or something.
MANIC (O.S.)
(echoing)
You're just an accident waiting to happen!
Sonic then grit his teeth. Does
he really need all this insulting? He was sorry for
hurting Manic, but they didn't seem to care. It's like
all they ever focus on are his mistakes!
SONIC
Well, FINE! I know
when I'm not wanted!
And with that, he spun on his heels, and dashed
away through Robotropolis.
WIDE SHOT - ROBOTROPOLIS
He zipped by the patrolling SWAT bots, the
factories, and even the chilidog stand! He dashed out
through the border of Robotropolis, and towards the horizon, all through the
time, thinking of the cruelty he had to suffer.
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. SEWERS
Meanwhile, deep under the sewers, QUEEN
ALEENA wondered around with a flashlight. She looked
up one sewage opening.
ALEENA
Tails! I found an
opening.
Walking in the sewer hall is TAILS, wearing
night vision goggles. Tails stopped in front of Aleena
who stared at him.
TAILS
What?
ALEENA
Oh, nothing!
Aleena held onto the flashlight with her
teeth and began climbing up the ladder.
EXT. STREET – ROBOTROPOLIS – NIGHT
A sewer lid opens and Aleena sticks her head
out. She took the flashlight out of her teeth and
called out.
ALEENA
(calling)
Okay, Tails, come on up!
Instantly, Tails came flying up with his two
tails and dives on the street, feet-first. He removed
the goggles from his head and looked down at Aleena.
ALEENA
You know I hate it when you do that.
TAILS
Can I help it if I got skill?
Aleena climbed out and closed the lid.
ALEENA
You’re like Sonic sometimes.
TAILS
Aleena, are you jealous of my skills?
Aleena looked back at Tails for a second. Soon, she started chuckling.
ALEENA
(laughing)
What makes you think that?
Tails shook his head.
TAILS
Nothing. Come on, we
got to get that disc.
ALEENA
Right.
The two dashed off to the back of a building.
EXT. BACK OF GARAGE
Aleena and Tails are hiding in the bushes
behind the garage, where they see a BACK DOOR and a ROTATING SECURITY CAMERA
over it.
ALEENA
(whispering)
One camera, rotating.
TAILS
(whispering)
Jam it, I’ll get
inside.
ALEENA
No, I go in first.
TAILS
Aleena, you got to trust me on some thing. You really don’t have to treat me
like a ten-year-old.
ALEENA
Well, over the past few days, you have been
acting like a ten-year-old.
Tails GRINNED.
TAILS
Aleena, I AM a ten-year-old.
Besides, I can fly in there, shut off the power, and we’ll
be out before the sun rises.
ALEENA
(under breath)
That gives me a few hours to spare.
TAILS
What?
ALEENA
Nothing. Okay, I’ll
jam the camera, but cut the power quickly. Okay?
TAILS
Okay.
Tails was about to run, but Aleena grabbed
his shoulder.
ALEENA
No fun, okay? No
fancy stuff, just get it, cut the power, and get your two tails out! Got it?
Tails nodded.
TAILS
Okay, okay, sheesh!
Aleena let Tails go. Before
Tails jumped out of the bushes, Aleena aimed the camera jammer
gun at the security camera, and pulled the trigger.
ALEENA
Go!
Tails dashed for the door, opened it, and
slid inside. Once inside, Aleena turned off the gun
and waited.
ALEENA
Be careful, Tails.
Aleena looked at her watch and waited. Soon, she noticed the lights turn off in the building.
ALEENA
Good boy.
Aleena got up and ran to the door.
CUT TO:
INT. SECURITY ROOM
Aleena is seen on
the security video.
ROBOTNIK (O.S.)
Got the pawn, and the queen is dead.
ROBOTNIK chuckled from the shadows in the
room.
INT. GARAGE
Aleena slid in the open door and closed it
behind her. All of a sudden, she heard the door lock.
ALEENA
What the?
Next thing she knew, all of the lights turned
on! Aleena looked around, and her head turned behind
her. She stared in fear as to the images she saw.
ALEENA’S P.O.V.
Right in front of Aleena are
Several SWAT Bots, ROBOTNIK, and Tails chained up to the ground.
ALEENA
Tails?
TAILS
I tried not to, but temptation got the best
of me!
ALEENA
My FISTS will get the best of you!
Aleena’s arms were grabbed by two
SWAT Bots.
ROBOTNIK
Well, I got you, Queen Aleena. And, as a reward, we also got the
fox brat!
TAILS
Stop calling me that!
Aleena looked up and noticed several machines
with saw blades on them.
ALEENA
Robotnik, what are you planning on doing?
ROBOTNIK
Now, now, now, I can’t reveal my secrets. Instead, you two will be good speculators for my devious
plans.
Robotnik led out an EVIL CHUCKLE.
ROBOTNIK (CONT’D)
In fact, we speculated Tails in here.
Tails sweated in fear. Aleena
looked at him sternly, and spoke with her teeth gritted.
ALEENA
(sarcastic)
I hope you gave them a good show, Tails!
TAILS
I kind of did.
Aleena glared again.
TAILS
(to Robotnik)
Please don’t put me
in the same cell with her.
WIPE TO:
INT. UNDERGROUND BASE
Manic sat on top of the kitchen counter. Sonia stabbed a small white needle in Manic’s
thigh. As she pulled the morphine out, Manic let out a
depressed sigh.
SONIA
What's wrong, Manic? Is
the bandage too tight?
MANIC
No, it's not that. Not
only does my head hurt, so does my heart.
SONIA
Hm?
MANIC
I just feel guilty about what I said to Sonic. I hope I didn't hurt him.
SONIA
Oh, don't worry about Sonic.
He'll blow over it.
MANIC
(snapped)
How do you know?
(pause)
I mean, sure he's a
simple-minded windbag who leaps before he looks, but he still has feelings!
He sighed once more.
MANIC (CONT’D)
An' I think right now, they're
hurt.
Sonia sighed.
SONIA
Oh, you're right, Manic. I
guess I came down a little too hard on him.
She helped her brother jump off the counter.
SONIA
I better go find him to apologize.
MANIC
Hey, I'm with ya
all the way, sis. I mean, you ain't
th' only heart acher in
this room.
CUT TO:
EXT: WILDERNESS – CLIFFS -
Sonic approached a small cliff side. He was not exactly how sure how far he ran from
Robotropolis, or exactly where he was for that matter. But
that didn't really matter to him right now.
ANOTHER ANGLE
He sat on a nearby rock, and rested his chin
in his hands, and elbows on his knees.
SONIC Hey, I know I'm
usually a pain, but I enjoy who I am.
He SIGHED.
SONIC (CONT’D)
I like getting things through fast, even if
it gets me in scraps of trouble. Like I can't get
myself out?
He looked into the sky.
SONIC (CONT’D)
I don't do it to hurt other people. I didn't set that pipe to fall on
Manic intentionally.
He stared at his shoes.
SONIC (CONT’D)
But what do they care? To
them, I'm just some thorn in their feet. My own family.
He felt his face get hot. He
shook his head wildly, and his eyes began watering. He
quickly wiped the tears. What's wrong with him? Is he... crying?
SONIC
Get a hold of yourself, Sonic!
He then slumped forward, letting a tear roll
down his cheek.
SONIC
Bummer majoris.
His ear perked and he glanced up.
SONIC
Huh?
He let out a confused remark when hearing the
sounds of engines driving by.
ANGLE OVER CLIFF EDGE
He leaned over the cliff edge and saw to his
surprise.
SONIC
Dr. Robotnik!
SONIC’S P.O.V.
Down below in the forest, Sonic could see
large machines, most with saws on their roofs, driving through. The few trees around them were sawed
down.
ANGLE ON MACHINES
A large, red hovercraft lowered itself in the
middle of the machines. The bottom hatch opened, and
out stepped the obese, dictator himself, followed by a band of SWAT Bots. He examined the forest landscape around him.
ROBOTNIK
Ah, what a beautiful forest.
Perfect for the new location of the Robotisizer
Factory, once all these trees everywhere are taken down!
He pulled out a set of blueprints and
unrolled them.
ROBOTNIK (CONT’D)
After I build one here, then I'll set up 50
more locations! They'll populate like a common
fast-food restaurant!
He lowered the map, revealing a malicious
grin.
ROBOTNIK
And once it's finished, we can test it with our
two prisoners.
And with that, he began his cunning laughter.
