A. Clark Meadors

~ April 5, 1917 - February 3, 2000

A. Clark Meadors, age 82, of 114 Tillman Circle, Joanna, formerly of Apt. #38, Glendale Manor, Clinton, and widower of Lillie Frances Guest Meadors, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at 114 Tillman Circle in Joanna.

He was born in Clinton on April 5, 1917, the son of the late George Watson and Olivia Ward Meadors, and foster son of the late Clara Ward and Milton Milam, {his Aunt & Uncle}.

He was retired from Clinton Mills, was a part-time photographer, Foster Grandparent for ten years and the Foster Grandparent of the Year for 1999, an avid bowler and a Junior Bowling Coach, was a lifetime member of

the American Bowling Congress, a softball coach for the Clinton Cavelittes, along with his wife, and was also the announcer for the Clinton Caveliers, the men's textile baseball team. He was a former railroad policeman in Washington, D.C., at Union Station, was a member of Bailey Memorial United Methodist Church, a World War II Navy veteran, serving as a QuarterMaster 3 and a former member of the S.C. National Guard in Clinton. He was an avid fan Clinton High School Red Devil football team.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Meadors Penland and Sam of Gray Court, Sheila Meadors Gibson Cannon of Laurens, and Karen Meadors Mars and Albert of Joanna; a sister-in-law, Dorothy G. Davis of Austin, Texas.

Nine grandchildren, Laurie P. Skidmore of Laurens, "Alan" Clark Penland of Sumter, Michelle P. Epperly and Ann M. Crain, both of Gray Court, Al Mars of Joanna, Patricia "Lynn" G. Starnes of Waterloo, Gerald "Gerry" Wayne Gibson Jr. and Michael "Mike" Lee Gibson, both of Cross Hill and "Kevin" Jeffery Gibson of Callison;

Ten great-grandchildren, Jennifer Skidmore and Angela Skidmore, both of Laurens, Samuel N. Penland III (Bo), Kevin Penland and Wade Martin all of Myrtle Beach, "Jessica" Lynn Starnes and "Phillip" Martin Starnes, both of Waterloo, Drew Crain, Ryan Epperly, Mark Epperly Jr.

Three step-grandchildren, Christina Epperly, Christopher Epperly and Anthony Epperly, all of Gray Court, and one great-great-grandson, Nathan Skidmore of Laurens.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Janet D. Meadors; a son, Kevin E. Meadors; a grandson, Samuel "Sammie" N. Penland Jr. and his father and mother-in-law, William Haskell Guest & Aurelia Rawls Guest Zinser, and sister, who died at birth in 1918.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Rosemont Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home in Clinton.
