HE GAVE ME GARDENIAS

I am going to give it a try with something new to me. This is my first attempt at a dialogue fan fic and was kind of a catharsis for me. I also think is very much something that could end up happening on the show

He Gave Me Gardenias

An Alexis and Kristina Dialogue

“You lied to me about my father! How am I supposed to forgive you?”

“Kristina, you would never have mattered to him.”

“I was his first born child.”

“You were a bastard, I am sorry, but it is the truth. You were the bastard child of a bastard child. I did what I thought was best. I gave you a father who loved you, who still loves you. I gave you a brother and a sister. I gave you the life and stability that neither your father of I ever had when we were growing up. What more could you want?”

“The chance to know the man who helped create me?”

“That was impossible. No one knew your father, not really.”

“Why are we here? I want to go somewhere else. This place gives me the creeps.”

“Kristina, I brought you here for a reason. We will leave when I show you what you need to see. Then maybe you will understand why I lied to you. Why I kept you from your biological father.”

“You always have a excuse for the horrible things you do, mother! I am just wondering why you have brought me to a cemetery in the middle of winter?”

“Look at the headstone.”

“No!”

“Look at it!”

“Michael Corinthos Jr. 1965-2005! I was not even three when my father died?”

“I took you to the funeral. We were thrown out of course, but I took you anyway.”

“Why did you take me there at all?”

“I don’t know why Kristina. I just thought it might be important later.”

“What was my father’s favorite flower?”

“I don’t know.”

“How could you not know what kind of flower he liked?”

I told you I didn’t know him that well.”

“Did he ever give you flowers?”

“Yes, he gave me gardenias.”

“More than once?”

“Yes.”

“Then I would like to plant a gardenia bush in his honor.”

“I think that would be nice. He would think so as well.”

“Do you think it would have mattered?”

“Do I think what would have mattered sweetheart?”

“If he had known I was his, would it have given him a reason to live.”

“I don’t know. What I do know is I could not allow you to be his reason for living. The night you were conceived your father told me that he was choosing me. That was a lie. He had made his life choice long before I ever met him. That choice was to live his life outside of the law and outside of the norms of society. Do I think he would have given up his lifestyle for you? I am not sure now, but at the time I believed that he would not have changed his life for you. Kristina look at the headstone next to your father’s.”

“Michele Corinthos 2003-2005?”

“She was your half sister. She was gunned down in the same shoot out as your father. She died at his side for no other reason than because she bore his last name.”

“That could have been me?”

“Yes it could have and that is why I lied to you for so many years. I did it to protect you.”

“Did you love my father?”

“Yes, but I loved you more, Kristina.”

“Thank you, mother.”

“For brining you here?

“No, for giving me life and for saving my life.”

“You are most welcome. Now if you will allow it, I would like to take you home and celebrate your birthday. I am sure your brother and sister and father would like it as well.”

“What should I call him?”

“Who?”

“Dad, I mean Cameron?”

“You have called him Dad for 13 years, but I suppose you should call him by what ever name makes you feel comfortable.”

“I am not sure what makes me comfortable right now.”

“Than you should probably think it over for a while before you decide.”

“Mom?”

“Yes honey?”

“Can we plant the gardenia plant as soon as the ground thaws?”

“Of course we can, Kristina.”

“I read that gardenia plants need lots of warm weather. Do you think one will survive, outside in New York?”

“I think it will survive alright. In fact, I am pretty sure it will flourish.”

THE END!
