should have one...
There are some existing nomenclature recommendations for polymers at http://www.iupac.org/reports/IV/guide-for-authors.pdf. These recommendations also contain a bunch of structural diagrams that could/should be considered here.
MDL uses a "star atom" to represent polymer attachment points. This is, basically, an asterisk at the end of a bond. This is visibly different than MDL's representation for RGroup attachment points, which looks more like an asterisk at the end of an arrow. This might be a useful distinction to continue to recommend.
When representing polymers in structural form, should any brackets nest {[()]} or should true brackets be used in all cases?
