Introduction: You are the new museum curator in Salem, Massachusetts. You have just received a crate marked "1692- Salem Witchcraft Trial Evidence." Your job is to examine each object and determine how it was used as incriminating evidence in the trials. On the other hand, this could be an opportunity for you to dispel any rumors and clear the reputations of some or all of the accused and convicted witches.
Task: After examining all aspects of the evidence, publish the findings of your research as a report, persuasive essay, webpage, or news article supporting or dispelling the position of the court during the Salem witch trials. Any related visuals or copies of original documents will strengthen your position.
Process: Begin your investigation by researching the incidents that occurred leading to the witch hunts and the people involved. Here is a starting point: Salem Witch Hunts . Be sure to keep daily logs of your findings and research. You must also interview at least ten descendants of any of the participants of this hunt.
Evaluation: Students will be provided with a rubric indicating the expected components of the publication of their choice.
Conclusion: Write an essay comparing and contrasting the real-life information to the characters and settings of The Crucible.
