Introduction
| For this web quest, you are going to pretend that you are a
high school literature teacher. The principal has informed you that
the English department will prepare a PowerPoint presentation for the next
district-wide in-service to show teachers how the internet, and especially
the American Memory collection of the Library of Congress, can be
successfully used to enhance classroom learning. Since your classes are studying the period of American Romanticism, and are currently reading Washington Irving's "Rip Van Winkle" and studying about his life, your team has decided to prepare a documentary type PowerPoint which will include all the major historical events and influences of the period which would have been happening during the life of Washington Irving.
