Susan Hill Carlisle
Born May 18, 1848 and died March 29, 1919.

Tenth child of T. A. and Kitty Carlisle.  Aunt Sue never married. Upon the death of her father, Sue and Tommie, the only children living at home, inherited the land. We do not know when the land was sold, but we do know that Sue owned land that she rented. She was the family member that would go to other family members in need.

After Anne died in 1889, Sue went to Gainsville, FL and helped Julius with his children, the youngest, John, being 17 months old. We have a letter from Julius' mother-in-law, Maria Taylor, stating that Sue was a fine Christian character and was truly glad the children have secured her care. Julius never remarried and Sue stayed for years, mentioning in a letter that she was homesick, but would not leave until John was 13.

We have letters from Sue in 1904 and 1906 from Lexington, Virginia. Sister Tommie and her husband lived in Virginia. On November 4, 1911, we have a letter from Roxton, Texas. She was visiting Walter and Lizzie. She mentions their child, Wagner.
