Julius Addison Carlisle
Born June 23, 1846 and Died May 4, 1915

Ninth child of T.A. and Kitty Carlisle.  Julius attended the Citadel and fought in the Civil War.  In 1871 he moved to Gainesville, Florida where he studied law.

Married August 13, 1874 at Osceola Plantation, Marion County Florida to Anne Baker Taylor (1856-1889)

Children of Julius and Anne:
Amelia (Millie) Taylor Carlisle  1875-1923
Caroline Dawkins Carlisle  1877-1894  Died of typhoid
Kitty Carlisle 1878-1951
Thomas Carlisle  1881-1896   Died of typhoid
Maria Taylor Carlisle  1883-1933
Julius Addison Carlisle, Jr.  1886 - 1887
John Maxey Carlisle  1887-1962
Of these children, Millie, Marie and John married and had children.

An 1883 account of Gainesville mentions the Carlisle house as one of the "fine residences" of the town. Anne died of typhoid fever early in 1889, shortly after her 33rd birthday.  Julius sent for his sister, Sue, to help with the children. John was only 17 months old.

I am searching for photos of the Carlisle home and the Osceola Plantation.
