ANIMAL PLANET

http://animal.discovery.com/

In my point of view this web site is incredible because it has great quality graphics and has exclusive information about any animal. I really enjoyed myself in this web site because everything caught my attention. For example it gives you detailed information about the mammals and their characteristics and they give you the opportunity to see your favorite animal live on camera through your computer, isn’t that amazing! This web site is so well brought up that it even gives you the chance to receive a free newsletter through your email that explains the latest of their projects and news about animals. All I have to say is this website is a must see and I recommend Animal Planet to everyone.

AQUARIUM OF PACIFIC

http://www.aquariumofpacific.org/

I recommend this web site to anyone who wants to experience a magical adventure because the pacific of aquarium is a museum that allows the public to have chance to see live marine animals through their eyes. This website also describe in detail what the pacific of aquarium is about and you wont believe that it carries over 12,000 animals and has a shark lagoon, isn’t that scary!! I was shocked in the fact that they offer interactive school programs for adults and the young to have the opportunity to learn more about marine animals. Not only that it also shows you the upcoming events and the dates they will take place. I am glad I took my time to do research on this website because I really enjoyed myself, I recommend it.

The International Year Of The Ocean web site was another boring web site. It was not exciting at all. It was like a book with just writing on it and no pictures. I thought it was going to be a good web site.

International Year Of The Ocean

http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/canwaters-eauxcan/index_e.asp

This web site descriptively tells you about Canadian Waters and what kinds of animals are attached to each habitat. What I like about his website is that it tells you the history of Canada and it’s role to protect the ocean and how much they care about the growth of coastal and marine activities of the environment and the species. The good part about the website is that it is well organized in the way where you can find the latest news of their future developments. For example they plan to give more information on the ocean and more activities to be a part of. I believe this is a great idea because it makes people get involve into their projects. I would recommend this website to people who are concern about Canadian Waters and their studies.

Jason Project

http://jasonproject.org/

The Jason Project site is a good site to look at if you are looking into researching the areas of science, math, and technology. This site explains to the student what the Jason Project is and what you can learn from it. This site is good for students who are looking to pursue a career or doing projects with the Jason Project. I would not recommend this site to students looking to do research; only those trying to get involved in these subjects outside of school. The graphics are decent they are not to great but they are colorful enough to draw your attention. The one thing I didn’t like about the sit is you didn’t know what you are looking at when you first come across the site. You had to search throughout the links to understand what the site was based on giving us information about. But the links did serve useful in explaining the site.

Kaikoura Canyon’s Giant Squid

http://www.nationalgeographic.com/features/97/kaikoura/index.html

Kaikoura Canyon’s Giant Squid website provides details about the New Zealand’s deep sea mission explorers. The website gives you details about its recognitions, from videos they have on National Geographic Channel to magazine highlights they have. The one good thing about this website is that every hyperlink works, must research based websites hyperlinks are dead. The website give you complete layouts they have done from the past months, they have records and details from their research and what they did. The website is pretty neat, nice background, I like the GIF files they have (pictures that have animations) I think this very educational and at the same time entertaining (radical). Details from creatures, gives you quick details/definitions to crew members are really specified which is really helpful if someone is doing a research on this topic. The links are very handy, like ocean planet, it gives you more details of the giant squid, because the website doesn’t really talk much about the giant squid. I personally think the website is very neat and well done; one problem about the website is that it needs more stuff on it, more pictures, more $!#^.

www.marinebio.com

This site is a tribute to ocean life and is dedicated completely to marine biology which of course is a useful source for learning about the ocean. This page has a good supply of graphics. They are simple but pleasing to the eye. Every page has a cool title bar, and there are dozens of pictures of many different species of marine life. Also, this website is very informative to just about anyone. It has recent updates of news in the biological world, to sections for extensive research, to a section for kids who simply are curious about the ocean world. There are tons of links that lead to just about any specific subject of marine biology, which I think would be very helpful for marine biology students. Ex. links on how to get involved, researching specific parts of marine biology, a 3-D shark tank view of several different types of sharks, and more. What I really liked about the site is that they have footage on the animals in the aquarium, which I really enjoyed a lot. There are well-designed guided tours through exhibits—think of it as a cyber field trip. It had high quality links to other web sites, which made it an even better web site. This is a hand on, see for yourself site that makes you want to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium as soon as possible and trust me you will. The interesting part about this site is they also rescue and help endangered marine animals, like the sea outers and the tuna fish, which is the major task right now. Another plus is that this site is very informative for K-12 students with features such as “ask a scientist”. Also it has useful tips for science teachers as well. It is a great resource for information about the ocean.

Oceans Alive! is a great site to check out when interested in learning more about the ocean. This site has tons of information available and easy to find. The information is divided into simple categories for specific areas such as land features, weather patterns, marine organisms, scientific research, and resources for students and teachers. This site is aimed for a younger audience as an introduction to oceans and much more. The links are a good way to find even more information for teachers and students. Yet the graphics are not spectacular although there are several useful diagrams of oceans and ocean life. Some of the pictures are not very clear and require you to click on it to get a bigger fuzzy picture of it. I liked how easy it was to view the information, but not very fond of those graphics.
