Boys tie for first with Shaker
Girls finish second to Colonie
On the warmest day of the year so far, the Shen Plainsmen track and field team showed that it is on fire and ready for postseason competition. The boys team tied Shaker for first with 85 points and the girls team finished second to Colonie with 98 points.
In the boys invitational 1600, Darrell Andruski ran a team best 4:29 to finish 4th. John Lynch was 5th. In the 300 shuttle hurdle relay, the team of Cooper, Vives, and Johnston finished first with a time of 49.3. The 4x800 team was 4th. The 4x200 team was 3rd, running a team best 1:35.6. The DMR was third in a team best 10:59. The SMR was 4th. The 4x1600 team was 3rd. The 4x100 team was 5th. The 4x400 team finished 3rd as Sam Silver just beat out the Shaker anchor leg to earn a crucial victory in the meet's final running event.
In the field events, the discus team finished second. The shot put team also finished second. The long jump team finished 4th. The triple jump team was also 4th. The high jump team of Nelson, McClure, and Jarvis won with a combined jump of 17-3.
On the girls' side, Ashlee Robertson was 5th in the invitational 100. The 300 shuttle hurdle team was 2nd. The 4x200 team of Maguire, Robertson, Ross, and Srok was first with a time of 1:48.9. The DMR of Wisenbum, Hodges, Fitzgerald, and O'Toole also won with a time of 13:15.2. The SMR was 4th. The 4x1500 team was 6th. The 4x100 team of Holland, Risch, Robertson, and Ross was victorious with a time of 50.7. The 4x400 team was 4th.
In the field events, the shot put team of Pasche, Hagner, and McLaughlin won and set a meet record with a combined throw of 104-3.5. The discus team of Schulkind, Pasche, and Hagner also won and set another meet record with a combined toss of 330-10. The long jump team was 2nd. The triple jump team was 6th. The high jump team of McDonough, Watson, and Fredrick won with a combined height of 14-0. The pole vault team of Stitt, Davidson, and Lancaster also won. Their combined height was 25-0.
