The Plainsmen's final dual meet of the season ended in a double victory as the defeated Burnt Hills, 104-75 and Mohonasen, 126-47.
The Burnt Hills 4x800 team of Camp, Bird, Crespin, and Bonner ran an 8:14 to win. However, Shen's Darrell Andruski was second in the 1600 with a time of 4:35 and Zach Hansen took third with a 4:37.4.
Sam Silver won the 400 with a 53.3, beating out teammate John Lynch, who was third with a 55.0. The 4x100 team of Nello Digiandomenico, Pat Harrison, Andy Street, and Andre Vives ran a team best 45.6 to cruise to victory. In the 400 hurdles, Wagner Samaniego came from behind to earn the victory with his 60.9 effort. Along with being on the winning 4x100 team, junior Nello Digiandomenico also was victorious in the 200 with a 23.7.
The biggest success of the meet came in the field events, where two Shen jumpers stepped it up. In the high jump, senior John McClure jumped 6-1, a new personal and team best. His previous PR was 5-10 and senior Ammon Nelson held the previous team best at 6-0. Nelson finished second in the competition with a 5-10 effort. McClure also won the triple jump with a jump of 40-5. Sophomore Sean Ranagan won the long jump with a jump of 19-0.
In the pole vault, junior Chris Horlacher vaulted 13-6, tying him for the team best with senior Chris Cooper. Cooper vaulted 12-6 today. The 13-6 vault is also Horlacher's personal best. Senior Erik Smith won the shot put with a throw of 43-8.
The Plainsmen end their dual meet season with a 7-2 Suburban Council record (2-2 Blue, 5-0 Gold), putting them in third place in the Blue Division final standings. The Colonie Garnet Raiders won the Blue Division by going undefeated.
