I guess I was first introduced to the concept of anarchism by the punk bands Dead Kennedys, Propagandhi, and Born Against. Although I don't consider myself a punk, I am still inspired by a lot of political punk bands. I live in North Charleston, South Carolina while is probably the home for the most racistes in the entire U.S.A. Not only does the Confederate flag still fly over the State House, but there is even a KKK store located in downtown Charleston. In my 19 years of barely getting by I have noticed that the poorer you are the more people see you as some kind of insect instead of as a human being, so I choose to use direct action as a way of stricking back at the upper class. I am currently a wage slave at a local grocery store where I am forced to bag dead, decaying flesh for asshole customers. I make my job interesting by stealing food and talking shit to the people who work in the meat department. I am a firm believer in animal rights. Along with vandalizing banks and gas stations, I try to fuck up fast food restaurants as a way to stop the slaughter of innocent beings. I also read a lot of animal liberation literature, so I can understand just how animals are slaughtered in factory farms. I claimed straight edge for a year, but I stopped because I realized there were much more important things in my life that dedicating my life to something as trite as sXe. I really don't believe someone's conviction can be portrayed by 2 black Xs on their hands. I am still drug-free and I still don't involve myself in meaningless sex, but I will no longer live my life crucified to the X. I choose to demonstrate my beliefs through my actions, not by some lame title. --Emmanuel Goldstein
I have been an anarchist for about 2 years now, and I have learned so much,
and I have so much hope for what is yet to come. I know I will be dedicated to
anarchism until the day I die. I listen to punk music, because it has good
views on things and doesn't try to be part of the capitalist machine. I am
talking about real, non-corporate, anarchist DIY punk of course. I believe
anarchism could make life worth living, and make living sustainable for
everyone, instead of just for the privilaged minority. I believe anarchism
will not be the result of the waining industrial or union sectors, but of the
majority of people people in the world. Many people in the world are already
fed up, and are looking for alternatives. It is hard for people to realize
what a great thing anarchism is because the mass media basically has a
blackout on how good it is, for the obvious reason it is against their
interests. But despite all of capitalism's efforts, anarchism is gaining
strength, and as the corporations use the governments force and oppression to
make people submit even more and more until it becomes unbearable, then we
must be ready, ready to show the masses of people that their IS an
alternative, and the power to exercise it lies within everyone. For many
people, it already has become unbearable, but they haven't seen the solution
yet. When the ever-growing mass of people who are fucked over by big money and
power politics DO realize what power we can behold, then nothing will stop us.
Nothing can stop us now, no matter how hard they try to keep their war against
the people and their little game of controlling as much much as possible under
wraps, people are waking up, and the dawn of tomorrow will either bring a
desolate wasteland with starving people in the streets and the Earth reduced
to rubish, or will bring about hope, joy, passion, and a life worth living for
everyone. Nothing can stop us now! We WILL fight back, and we WILL win. We
should not be looking for victory, but just to not be defeated, not to have
our will broken, not to be trampled like so many before, to grow, proser, and
foster hope, and attempt to show the people of the world how to return justice
to themselves. I hope I live to see the day, and I hope that day comes sooner
than we all think. To life!-- Smoke
