She Fight's A War In Iraq

The UtahCowboy wrote this in honor of all our women who are serving in the Armed Forces.
It is fiction, entirely imagination.

An old man sits by the fireside,
In a Leather chair alone,
While his grand daughter's fights in old Iraq.
He wishe's she was home.

He lost his son in Vietnam.
And his wife in later years.
And today  he finds his grand daughter gone.
So he sheds some lonely tears.

There is a Bible in his lap;
So  he prays unshamefully,
"You took my wife and son, dear God."
"Please don't take this girl from me".

I have her dog with me today.
Oh God we miss her so.
If I could change the laws of man.
I'd be the first to go.

Her Cowgirl Hat, is  on the mantle,
With her dad's  old lariett.
I  keep a candle burning Lord.
Dear God please don't forget.

She gave me a fishing rod,
When it was Father's day.
I know how much,  she loves to fish,
So I can't put it away.
She's all the family  that I have--
I hope she's not alone.
And when you end the Iraq war,
Please bring her  safely home.
Amen.
