There was a war,
a terrible crime,
brothers in a war of our land,
Between the northern
Union and the
Southern Rebel,
out of hand,
States trying to secede,
made a mountain out of a pebble,
But give me the south any old day,
'cause I'm telling you,
I'm a Rebel.Hard headed and stubborn,
when it comes to doing what's right,
Don't stand for any mud slinging and name calling,
or there's a fight,
I'm a Rebel,
I believe in these
States rights any ole day,
Just please don't tell me
I have to do this or that,
'cause I do it my way,
I'm a Rebel from way back,
when my grand Pappy had to go to war,
Had to fight men he didn't
want to fight from a place afar,
He didn't ask to go and be a target
in a battle of cannons all 'round,
Didn't want a bloody war,
when he could be in his own hometown.
Momma watching from a window
for her soldier to come hobbling on home,
He'd been away for about four years,
too long been gone,
From family and friends,
from the southern bells and southern balls,
One day soon she was sure he'd be
safely inside their own four walls.
Then it was time,
the war was over
and there were shouts of joy,
'Cause every southern mom
and every southern woman
wanted her man or boy.
They didn't care what
the war was about,
they didn't start it,
The heads of states as ever,
called out the men to fight,
tho they didn't want to one bit.
