God came by my folk's home place,
And paused while there, he saw Mom's face.
And gently took her by the hand;
To lead her to the Promised land.
He let us have her all these years,
To raise us up and dry our tears,
To give us love and always care,
To make us smile when she was there.
But now her work on earth is done,
She lays in wait, beneath the sun.
With smiling face and outstretched hand,
God will take her to the Promised Land.
Her cares are gone, all swept away,
She waits there now, for her special day,
A flower in God's garden, with her very own space,
'Cause God came by my folk's home place.
