December 2000 and January 2001
December 2000
I called to make my doctor's appointment but they won't be able to work me in until January 17, 2001. That is way too far away for me. I'm not really having any morning sickness but I do feel like complete crap and I'm not able to eat much. I just have a strong aversion to pretty much every kind of food there is and I just want to sleep all the time. We went to visit Andy's mom and his father and grandmother for Christmas but I don't think I was much of a guest. It was all I could do to stay awake and eat Christmas dinner. Then of course I worried that I was being rude... which made me feel worse. I am still having some residual "cynic attacks".. wondering if I am REALLY pregnant and all that. I think I just wanted this so badly that I am afraid to believe that's it real.

Happy New Years!! It's so weird for me to think that by the end of the first half of this new year, I will be a mother. It's a pretty amazing thought. Andy and I both resolved to be the best parents that we can possibly be. I'm sure it's not an incredibly original resolution but it is for us. We're both still getting adjusted to thinking of ourselves as "Mama and Daddy".
We've been talking about the due date, wondering exactly when it'll be since we haven't gotten that information from the doctor yet. I know that the first day of my last period was on September 23, 2001. That puts our due date at June 30, 2001. Andy and I both have a feeling that the baby will come during the first or second week of July. We both agree that we don't care about the sex of the baby. In some ways it'd be nice to have a girl first but then again a boy would be nice too. For some reason I suspect that it's a baby boy. Andy tends to think that it's a girl. We'll see.

Finally! Our doctor's appointment was today at 10:30 am. We went in and met the head RN and one of the doctors (this is a group), then we filled out insurance paperwork and got a big packet of information on pregnancy and childbirth. Then the doctor gave a complete physical and pelvic exam. Blech! He confirmed the June 30th due date and said that my uterus felt just right for that date, about 14 weeks. We were about to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time and the heartrate was 160. My blood pressure was 120/80 and my urinalysis was clear. So far so good. I have my next appointment on February 2, 2001 and I get to have an ultrasound!! Yay!!
