Amazing Grace

It is truly a labor of love to sit here daily and attempt to entertain a worldwide audience with some new bit of inspiration. But, trust me, it is a joy to spread so much joy to folks all over the globe. That is why I have elected to show an international array of flags at the top of the page and to change the background to misty rose.

It is a wonder working with the HTML (computer-internet) code that formulates these pages. Also interesting is how if you miss out on just one little " or one little < ... it can change the entire look of a whole page. I could write the most beautiful, romantic, flowing words in the world, but if one bit of the code is in error -- then it will not all appear.

Same thing is true about life. You can do some of the most wonderful things in the world -- like drive a motor vehicle, but there are any number of errors that can make such an experience catastrophic. Do you realize that the dividing line between lanes on a highway are only inches across, but it is just a matter of inches difference between a side-swipe or a head-on collision?

There is definitely a difference between the taste of sugar and salt in a cooking recipe, even though both are the same color and can look alike at first glance.

Then too, the God above looks down and sees our work. A song intimates that you can do 99 and a half per cent goodness in your life, and mess up on the remainder, but : "99 and a half, won't do."

That is frustrating for folk who claim to be perfect, and make a big denial when they flop. But, I am taught and do teach, that we don't get to heaven on our good works -- but on our faith. The faith is built in the sacrifice made almost 2,000 years ago at Calvary -- to atone for all our misdeeds, big and small. So even when I fail -- there is forgiveness and grace -- on earth as in heaven.

Nevertheless, because of my faith, I strive for excellence, not only in programming this website -- but in programming my life. I will slip up -- but I can be forgiven, and if shown my mistake -- there is opportunity to correct it.

I know there are folks in life who have made mistakes for which there seems to be no atonement. Indeed, you may be in prison or on death row for something you truly did and that cannot be taken back. The world demands justice -- and sometimes renders it. But in heaven, the believer can always find grace -- to replace justice. Scripture says just such a thing happened to the thief on the cross when they also crucified the Savior, whose birthday we celebrate every year. -- HartKeeper
