The land of purple, green, and gold
Is where this mask will go.
It's not so very far
It could go by car.
March 7 is the day
When this Jester will play.
Her mask went to Diane Swenson:
What a great day for me. Got my computer back
today from the repair
shop and also got my mask from Carol Walton in
the mail today. The
mail lady pounded on my door and when I went
outside, there sat a very
large box. What a surprise when I opened it. I
had made a Mardi Gras
mask for my exchange gourd and received a Mardi
Gras mask in return.
Mine is made like a court jester. Carol had cut
the tops from another
gourd and halved it and placed one half on the
right of the center top
and one to the left, so it appears as if he has a
three pointed cap on.
One point is purple, one gold and one green, all
covered with gold
glitter. The face is done in an opalescent white
paint with cut out
eyes, sculpted nose and red lips. Stars are
painted on one side of his
face and a side view moon in gold on the other.
Carrol, I have a
special place to display my new treasure on my
work room wall. Thank
you so much. Diane
June's bio:
June Walton: WALTONHOUSE@worldnet.att.net
I am June Walton from Lumberton, Tx. I am a retired
first grade
teacher. About eight years ago I bought two gourds at a flea market
because they
were the first I had seen in over fifty years. Several years later
I saw one
of Deborha Kerr's books on painting gourds. Gourd fever hit and
I have been hooked
ever since. I have sold a few but paint mainly for enjoyment.
