Chapter 9

"Just kiss her already." Chris smiled. "It's not that big of a deal." He laughed as Ben groaned and scooted closer to Josie.

"Look." He whispered, looking down into her pale blue eyes. "I'm really sorry about this, but if we just kiss, they'll leave us alone." He said as she nodded her head numbly.

Ben watched her nervously, debating whether or not to do this. Kissing had never been a problem for him before. He had kissed a lot of girls, so why should Josie be any different. Leaning down, Ben sighed to himself. Finally making the move, Ben pressed his lips to her. Closing his eyes he tried as hard as he could to not get involved in the kiss.

'It's just a dare. This isn't really happening. You're just friends.' Josie mentally reminded herself as she relaxed into Ben's kisses. Just as she began to get comfortable, Josie pulled herself back into reality and moved away from Ben. Breathing heavily, she blinked her eyes open and stared deeply into Ben's. He watched her carefully to see if she had felt what he had.

"Woo Hoo!" Renee laughed, pulling both Ben and Josie back to reality.

"Sorry." Ben whispered quietly as Josie nodded in silence.

"Damn." Jason smiled widely.

"That was pretty intense kiss if it was just for a dare." Nathan hinted as Josie and Ben both flashed him the evil eye.

"I pass. Someone else dare somebody." Ben said, settling back into his seat.

"All right." Chris said. "Josie, truth or dare?"

"Truth." Josie decided quickly, not wanting to find out what they would dare her next.

"Is it true that you like Ben? In a more than mate's kind of way?" Chris asked, arching his eyebrows in emphasis.

"What?" She asked in shock as Daniel leaned forward.

"Do you want to go out with our friend Gillies?" Daniel questioned as Josie's face turned red.

"Why?" She asked as everyone around her watched in amusement.

"Just answer the question." Amber encouraged as Josie stood up quickly.

"This is stupid." She said defensively.

"Josie, don't leave it's just a game." Nathan called as she waved and walked out of the door.

"I'm gonna go and see if she's upset." Ben said as Chris and Daniel exchanged knowing looks.

"Have fun." Chris smiled.

"Yeah and don't do anything I wouldn't." Daniel warned.

"So you don't want me to do anything?" Ben called, running out of the room before Daniel could object.

"Josie?" Ben called as he walked out onto the deck.

"Yeah?" She asked as Ben spotted her sitting by herself.

"Hey." He smiled, "Mind if I sit down?" He asked as she made room for him.

"So." She said as Ben looked out at the beach behind the house.

"Why did you walk out back there?" He asked as she shrugged.

"Because it was stupid." She mumbled, curling her knees up to her chest and staring at him questioningly.

"You didn't answer the question though." He said, finally turning to look into her eyes.

"What question?" She asked, knowing exactly what he was talking about.

"Whether or not you liked me."

"Oh." She whispered. "You're nice."

"Not like that." Ben said. "Look Jo." Ben sighed. Pausing shortly he shuffled closer to her. "I like you. Really like you. You're funny, sweet, not to mention hot. Think of that whatever you want. I need you to know that." Ben shrugged, standing. Grabbing onto his hand, Josie looked up at him.

"Ben." She smiled. "I like you too." She grinned as he pulled her to her feet.

"So..." He grinned cheekily. "What do you think we should do about this?" He asked, nudging her suggestively.

"Don't even think about it Gillies." She smiled, tussling his hair playfully as he grabbed her waist and dragging her back inside.
