"Oh my God Ne Ne." Josie sighed as she threw herself onto a bench. "My
feet hurt." She giggled happily as Renee sat down next to her. Dropping
their bags at their feet they sat quietly for a few short minutes. It had
been a long time since she could remember being happy, and it felt good to be
around people she was comfortable with.
"Hey, there's Sound World." Renee grinned devilishly. "Ben's working right?" She asked, nudging Josie suggestively.
"Yeah." She said slowly. "But I don't want to bother him." She added quickly, stretching her legs out in front of her.
"We won't be bothering him." Renee swore, turning to face her. "Besides, I'm sure he'd love to see you. As much as he bitches about working there, I'm sure he'd like to see a friendly face." She suggested, jumping to her feet and putting her hands out for Josie.
"Mmm... I don't know." She said un-surely as Renee pulled her to her feet.
"Too bad, I'm going." Renee shrugged, walking towards the store with Josie quickly following.
"Cold." Josie shivered, rubbing her arms as she walked forward. "Ow." She murmured as she slammed into a stalled Renee. "What are you staring at?" Josie giggled as she pushed back a stunned Renee. It was soon easy to see why Renee had stopped walking. "Ben?" Josie cried as Ben pushed himself away from the girl he had only seconds before been wrapped in a passionate embrace with.
"Maybe we were bothering him after all." Renee murmured, trying to break the suffocating tension that had filled the small room.
"I have to get back to work." The blonde girl whispered, walking towards Josie slowly. "It was really nice meeting you. I've heard so much about you." She giggled, slamming into Josie as she walked past.
"Josie..." Ben gasped in shock as he stared at his surprised girlfriend. "I can explain." He murmured, running a hand through his spiky hair.
"Don't bother." Josie sobbed. "It speaks for itself." She cried, rushing towards the door and running towards the beach.
"Josie wait," Ben pleaded, rushing after her.
"Leave me alone!" Josie sobbed, reaching the sand shortly before Ben.
Stumbling, Ben reached Josie just in time to catch her fall. "Josie calm down." Ben cried as she trashed against him.
"Get off of me!" She screamed as she struggled against him. "I don't want you touching me." She moaned, trying to push him away from her. It was useless. Playing drums for all those years had made Ben much stronger than Josie. Giving up, she leaned softly onto Ben, burying her tear stained face into his shoulders.
"Josie baby," Ben murmured, holding her against his body. "Please let me explain. She kissed me."
"Yeah right. Do you really think I'm that stupid?" Josie sobbed, slumping her body onto the sand.
"No! I think you're brilliant." Ben smiled as she threw her hands up in exasperation.
"How could you?" She blurted out, not having anything else to say, she dabbed at her eyes with the corner of her shirt.
"I swear to you, I didn't kiss her. What you saw was her kissing me." Ben said, rubbing her arm soothingly.
"You didn't seem to be putting up much of a protest." She murmured, much calmer this time.
"I swear to you, I never want to kiss anyone but you." He explained as she finally met his gaze. "If you had walked in two seconds earlier or two seconds later, you would have seen her kiss me, or me push her away. Please believe me." He pleaded, staring into her blue eyes, the same blue eyes he had been staring into when they kissed earlier today.
"I hate you." Josie said wearily as he watched her carefully.
"I love you." He tried to reason, hugging her body to his. "And I'm sorry, I swear I never would have kissed her, but she jumped me." Ben grinned as Josie wiped her eyes.
"Yeah." She said quietly, "Don't you have to get back to work?" Josie asked, still hurt by what she had seen earlier.
"Look, I get off of work at seven, I'll come over okay?" Ben pleaded. "I know you hate me, but please." He said as he pulled Josie to her feet.
"Yeah okay, I'll be there." She mumbled as he smiled.
"Good see ya then." He waved.
"Yeah." She replied. "See ya' then."
