Sound
Two ways of producing sound: (sound cards usually able to do both)
1. Synthesized and digitally sampled--the sound card or the MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) creates the sound requested by the computer. Does not store the sound so storage is not a concern.
2. Digitally recorded sound--stores an “image” of the sound. A picture of the sound is taken many times per second. Requires large amounts of storage space (ex. MP3 files)
