links

Here are some of the links that I found particularly helpful in my wedding planning. I hope you'll enjoy them as I do.

First and most important, since I wouldn't have found any of the subsequent sites without it, is Altavista.com. I've included a search engine for Altavista... just type in what you're looking for and voila!

AltaVista Find this:

TheKnot.com

A truly indispensable wedding web site offering everything from great advice on the message boards to an extensive wedding gown search. Although the wedding gowns offered are a tad bit on the expensive side, the articles, online registry and personal planning tools more than make up for it.

WeddingChannel.com

Another one of those good ol' wedding sites, this one came in a close second to TheKnot.com on my favorites list. The message/chat boards don't have nearly as much traffic and the online registry is more of a pain than it's worth. Good articles and helpful hints make this a good place to drop by on your way elsewhere.

Renwear.com

I ordered my wedding dress and bridesmaid's gown from this site. The seamstress and webmaster, Terry, is a true genius at making beautiful Renaissance Faire and period clothing. She offers not only a wide variety of clothing, but also period book and music webrings to really get you in Faire mood!

Mondera.com

We bought our rings here and they are beautiful. Buyer Beware however! Mondera.com offers a ton of rings in a million variations BUT their customer service... well, to be honest, it sucks. We had an awful experience with this company and although we are ultimately thrilled with our rings, we were not thrilled with the $50 overbilling or the 10 day wait for Next Day Air. My suggestion is to browse this site for your dream ring and then hit the "Print" button and go elsewhere for the actual buying.

By-The-Sword.com

We purchased Andy's clothes and his groomsmen's outfits here. This site was one of my favorites for just browsing and window-shopping. By-the-Sword offers Renaissance era jewelry, coins, musical instruments, whips and chains (for the more adventurous among us *grins*), shields and various weapons, in addition to the vast array of clothing and armor for men, women and children.

eBay

As anyone in my family can tell you, Andy and I have been having a love affair with eBay.com ever since we first clicked our way there more than 2 years ago. We have been known to sit, absolutely transfixed, for hours staring as page after page of ancient weaponry and odd items from our childhoods unfurl before us. Over time we've both bought and sold many a treasure through eBay. My objective this time was a woman's dagger, a small knife that I could wear at my belt during the ceremony and reception. As usual, I was quite successful in my search. See the details page for pictures of my find.
