Origin of Name

Bangalore comes from the Kannada word “Benda kala ooru,” which denotes

“The city of boiled beans.” The name came from an old king who came across the

area know today as Bangalore. There he met a poor woman. The woman had nothing

to offer the king but boiled beans. He then named the area Benda kala ooru. Over

the years the name changed in to Bangalore.
