Part 1

Faye slowly opened her eyes to look at her surroundings. She was still in the same place. She was just going to have to deal with the fact that she was in the wrong apartment. She couldn't believe that she was still there. 'You know better girl,' Faye told herself. 'Never stay the whole night. It's nothing but trouble.'

Faye tried to roll over and get off the bed. Maybe she could sneak out before he woke up. She frowned when an arm shot out and wrapped around her waist. 'Oh, hell,' she thought to herself.

David pulled her closer to him, "Where are you going, baby?"

Faye did not turn to look at him. "I have to go," she started. "I have things that I have to get done."

David bent his head to kiss her on the neck. "Will I see you tonight?"

"I really don't think so."

David sat up in the bed. Faye got off of the bed and began to put her clothes back on. She needed to get out as fast as she could. She really did not feel like arguing with David. "So this is suppose to be it. Don't call me, I'll call you."

Faye still did not look at him. "That's about right."

"So last night was nothing to you?"

"Last night was great, but I made you no promises that there would be anymore."

"You're nothing but a slut."

Faye turned to look at him then, and David wished that she hadn't. There was anger sparkling in her golden eyes. "No David. I'm just a normal person looking for a good time."

"And that gives you the right to use anyone that you please to."

"Everyone uses somebody and everyone is being used. I'm no different than every other person on this earth." Faye had her clothes on and she picked up her purse. She started to walk towards the door. "You shouldn't be angry. You are no different than I am. I've heard of you, and I'm sure that you have heard of me. You go home with a different person each night. What's wrong with me doing the same thing?"

"You stayed the whole night."

Faye nodded, "That was a mistake on my part." "Just get out."

Faye opened the door. She looked back at him and smiled, "No hard feelings David. Maybe I'll see you again." She shut the door behind her. She heard the sound of David's fist hitting something hard. Her smiled only widened.

Once Faye was out on the apartment building she went to her car. She looked at her face in the mirror and thoughts from the past came to her. She hadn't changed that much since New Salem. She thought of the controlling girl that she was then. She was so thirsty for power that she would have destroyed all those that she cared about. She smiled at her reflection, things were a little different now.

After the death of Black John the circle had gotten closer together . They seemed to have forgotten the fact that she had tried to take over the world. Faye knew that they had not forgotten. They would never forget, and neither would she. She was not ashamed of herself for it, but she would never be that way again. The circle knew and understood that, and besides from the members of her circle no one knew of her greed for power.

At first it was nice living in peaceful surroundings but it got boring fast. They all thought so. Faye was eager to leave her hometown, and once she graduated from high school she began to make plans for leaving. Her plans did not surprise anyone. It seemed like they all expected to leave New Salem at one time or another.

Faye was the first to leave. Nick left after she did. He ended up in Chicago. Faye did not know exactly what he was doing there but she knew better than to get into his business. Susan left not long after Nick. She decided that she wanted to see Europe. They all heard from her and she was never in the same spot. Debroah was next. She just got on her motorcycle on day and left town, no one was really sure where she went. Adam and Cassie left after she graduated. They wanted to go to California. The twins were next. There no fun left in New Salem. Last she heard they were in Seattle. Then Diana left. This was a surprise for her. Faye never thought that her cousin would ever leave the town that loved her so much. Diana was the last to leave, the others had decided to stay for the time being.

Faye had ended up in New York City. She decided that she might as well get an education while she was there. She enrolled at NYU. She wasn't real sure that she wanted to stay there. Maybe she would transfer later. So far things had been going very well for her, but she did not know if things were going to stay that way. She was always so eager for change.

Faye shook her head. She had to stop daydreaming about the past. The future had so many possibilities.
