FRUGAL RAMEN NOODLE RECIPES

Ramen Noodles cost fifteen cents a package when on sale at your local supermarket. One package will feed one average person for one meal. With a creative mind you can come up with enough recipes that you could live very frugally if you have too, using these noodle packets. Each package comes with its own flavoring packet which you can use or use your own herbs and spices of choice. Ramen Noodles come in a large variety of flavors. They are easy to prepare in water on top of the stove in just 5 minutes. Just place the brick of noodles in water and boil for 2-1/2 minutes, then flip it over, and boil another 2-1/2 minutes. Drain off the water and add whatever you choose to it. I have listed recipes I have created on my own and some of them I found online over a period of time.
Remember this one hint when you need to live frugally:
Rice, macaroni, or pasta combined with half a pound of cooked ground beef, turkey, chicken, or seafood, and a can of mixed vegetables will create a casserole that will feed you nicely for a meal.
You can add a chopped onion and garlic. Add tomatoes and mushrooms. Add grated cheese or niblet corn.
Frozen mixed vegetables and English Peas and carrots are very good to add to a casserole recipe. Add spices or herbs for additional flavoring. Dollar Stores and Walmart sells generic herbs and spices for fifty cents a bottle. Keep a supply on hand for seasoning recipes. Learn to be creative. See what you can come up with to please your own family in their tastes.

RAMEN BURGER
Here is my version of this food craze.

In a food processor, place half a loaf of sliced whole wheat bread and process it for 15 seconds to make breadcrumbs. Add 1 large egg, 1 tsp. sesame oil, 1 Tbsp. soy sauce or Bragg's Amino Acids, 1 tsp. garlic powder, 1 tsp. onion powder, and 2 condiment-sized Beef Flavor Enhancers packets or use 2 of the seasoning packets from the Ramen Noodles and 2 tsp. beef bouillon powder, mixing well. Form 4 equal patties from this mixture the same size as a real hamburger would be. Cook them on both sides in hot beef broth in a covered skillet for ten minutes per side. Drain on white paper towels. Set aside your 4 cooked Faux Hamburger Patties.

Cook four bricks of Ramen Noodles in a large pan of water for five minutes. Drain off the water. Do not use the seasoning packets unless you want to use two of them in your 4 Faux Hamburger Patties above. Mix 4 large beaten eggs into the cooked and drained Ramen Noodles in a large bowl. Use 8 eight-ounce butter sprayed ramekins and divide the Ramen Noodles' mixture evenly among them. Cover each ramekin with plastic wrap, and press down on the Ramen mixture with your hands to flatten the mixture as much as you can. Set a heavy can on top of each one over the plastic wrap and place the ramekins in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to set up. Gently remove each Ramen "bun" from the ramekins, and fry them on both sides until lightly browned in hot vegetable oil. Drain on white paper towels. Use two of these Ramen Noodles "buns" to assemble with one of your Faux Hamburger Patties. Put cleaned arugula over one "bun". On the other "bun" place one of the cooked Faux Hamburger Patties. Add a cooked fried egg, a slice of white cheese, a slice of sweet onion, and some mustard/mayonnaise. Wrap in parchment paper, and enjoy your Ramen Burger with plenty of napkins, some Lay's Potato Chips, and a SodaStream Fountain Jet homemade soft drink. Makes 4 Ramen Burgers.

RAMEN SOUP
Cook a pack of Ramen Noodles in a can of heated Beef Broth. Mix in some Baby Spinach or Kale, 1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil, a handful of chopped fresh cilantro, the seasoning packet, and some Sriracha Sauce to suit your tastes.

RAMEN ASIAN CHICKEN SOUP
Cook a brick of Ramen Noodles with a can of chicken broth with the seasoning packet added to it. Mix in some chopped Bok Choy, 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil, 1/2 teaspoon of minced ginger, some shredded cooked chicken, and one hard-boiled peeled and chopped egg. Add Sriracha Sauce to suit your taste.

RAMEN BEEF STROGANOFF
Make your meatballs using 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs, 1 beaten egg, and 2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan-Romano cheese. Form tiny meatballs about the size of a dime. In a saucepan, heat 2 cups water and the seasoning packet from the Ramen Noodles. When it is boiling, add the meatballs, turn the heat down to simmer, and cover the pot with its lid. Cook the meatballs for ten minutes without stirring them. When they are done, add your pack of Ramen Noodles, and cook them for five minutes. When done, add enough plain yogurt to make your sauce creamy, about 1/2 cup, or to suit your tastes.
This one recipe can be used to make a variety of recipes by simply changing the flavor of the Ramen Noodles. The frugal breadcrumbs recipe can be used to make meatballs for spaghetti, soup, stroganoff, or you can make 4 patties using a half a loaf of bread to make your own breadcrumbs in a food processor. You can create Swiss Steak, Salisbury Steak, hamburger patties, chicken patties, turkey patties, or whatever you can think up to make, without actually needing any meat. You can thicken your sauce with 2 Tbsp. flour mixed into 1/4 cup COLD water until the flour is completely dissolved, then add it to your broth, and stir while heating until the sauce is thickened. The meatballs or patties will absorb the flavor of the broth you use.

CHINESE NOODLE SOUP
1 pkg. Ramen Noodles (chicken, oriental or beef flavor)
2 cans chicken broth
1/2 cup frozen English peas
1/2 can sliced water chestnuts
1 egg, beaten with fork
1 chicken breast or 1/2 cup leftover cooked chicken, turkey or beef
1/2 cup chopped bok choy or Napa cabbage or celery
2 Tbsp. carrots, sliced diagonally in small pieces
1 tsp. sesame oil (optional, gives that Chinese soup flavor)
2 to 3 Tbsp. diced green onions or chives for garnish

Bring 2 cups of water to boil; add chicken broth. Add the packet of seasoning. While broth is boiling, add 1 chicken breast (cut in small pieces), vegetables and the egg. Stir the egg in with a fork and mix it fast so it will not clump. Just before serving, add the noodles and the peas, then the sesame oil and green onions. Don't let soup sit around cause vegetables need to be a bit crunchy, not cooked soft. If using leftover meat in your soup, just add at the end because it only needs to be heated. Add another can of chicken broth if soup is too thick or if you prefer more broth.

You may vary the soup with different Chinese type vegetables available. Add some garlic and a dash of hot Chinese mustard. If using strong vegetables such as broccoli, chop them small and don't overcook to avoid a strong flavor.

How to live on twenty-five dollars per week for food for one person:

1 jar Peanut Butter and Grape Jelly Swirl $2.29
2 large loaves bread $2.00
1 gallon whole milk $2.50
2 packs dried beans or lentils $2.00
2 dozen eggs $4.00
7 pkgs. Ramen noodles $1.05
1 pound butter $1.00
10 lbs. potatoes or a large box brown rice $3.00
1 box quick cooking oatmeal $2.00
frozen mixed vegetables $3.00

Shop at Dollar General or similar stores and supermarkets that have discount food prices and generic brands. Kroger sells generic loaves of bread for $1. Clip coupons for extra savings for products you will purchase, but generic items are usually cheaper than brands with coupons. Many generic brands are just as good as more expensive brands. If you have a bread thrift store, shop there for cheaper loaves of bread.

You won't starve if you keep oatmeal, bread, peanut butter, jelly, sliced cheese, eggs, mixed vegetables, tomato sauce, and Ramen Noodles in your pantry. You can have oatmeal and toast for breakfast, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and Ramen Noodles soup for lunch, and scrambled eggs with cheese and mixed vegetables, and toast for dinner. You can make a bowl of Tomato Soup using one can of tomato sauce and an equal amount of hot water, and you can make a toasted cheese sandwich from two slices of toasted bread with one slice of cheese added while the bread is still hot from the toaster, then press the sandwich together with the palms of both hands. You can make hard-boiled eggs and eat them peeled. Eggs can be fried or scrambled for variety. If you can afford them, add boxed whole grain cereals and whole milk to your grocery list. Many students have lived off them or Ramen Noodles recipes while working their way through college.

Be sure to pray before every meal, and ask God to bless the food to satisfy your hunger, keep you filled up until you can eat again, and supply the nutrients your body and mind needs, and thank Him for it.

If you are really in a financial tight and in need of food, many churches nowadays have an emergency food pantry for local people who are in need.
