OOC KREWE FAQ
So you'd like to join a krewe? Or maybe you don't even know what's involved in being on a krewe? Here's a FAQ to help you with the information you need. Most of the answers below come from the Mardi Gras bulletin board on (Cajun Nights MUSH).
How do I join a krewe on this MUSH?
CN has code implemented to help players hook up with the various Krewes. Mind you, some Krewes have certain prerequisites, and it is up to the individual Krewe Captains to approve or disapprove of applicants.
So how do I apply to join a krewe?
To request an application with a Krewe, you will need to put yourself on their waiting list. Each Krewe may develop their own membership requirements. To apply to join a Staff Supported Krewe:
+reg/(krewe)
(i.e., if you want to join Krewe Rex, type +reg/Rex to get added to the approval waiting list)
How will I know if I'm accepted?
+Reg/(krewe) places the Player on the specific Krewe Approval List. Once the Krewe Captain approves or declines your request, you'll be notified of the decision via +mail.
How do I know which Krewe I'd like to be on?
Here's a general outline of the Staff-Supported Krewes on CN:
- Krewe Rex: Rich and Influential/Political types
- Krewe Osiris: Artistic types of all kinds
- Krewe Endymion: Party Animal types, open to ANYONE who applies
- Krewe Oracle: Player Krewe; Player owned and operated
- Krewe Papillon: Player Krewe; Player owned and operated
What if I think I'd like to make my own Krewe?
Additional Krewes will be allowed if there are 8 or more players willing to form and manage the Krewe with minimum Staff Support. In RL, there are some 60 Krewes, and parades are held over a period of 2 weeks throughout New Orleans. However, it is not feasible to support them all in a MUSH environment.
Last but not least, what exactly do Krewes do?
Each Krewe is responsible for designing and building floats for the MG parades, and for planning and hosting a ball during the MG season. Krewes can sponsor other events during the season, and throughout the IC year as well. The more worker bees, the more things a Krewe can do!
If you're a member of a Krewe, you can help OOC and IC with the floats and the ball, along with any other events your Krewe is hosting. You may also be able to ride one of your floats in the parades, which often take place several times over an RL weekend so more people can participate.
Sound like fun? It is! +Reg/(krewe) today!
