Cosmix's Coffee Break!
Rough day?
Then you've come to the right place. Here, you can find inspiring stories of everyday life, movie and book reviews, jokes, and other gossip-y tidbits you will be sure to enjoy.
Here's a tale that is sure to brighten your day:
A young man, living in the city, was struggling to keep his stomach full and his rent paid, when his landlady kicked him out. Cold and alone, he wandered the city streets, taking any and all donations he could find. Indeed, he was so poor that he was forced to rummage through trash cans. One day, though, he saw a tall, regal-looking fellow drop a crumpled wad of paper onto the ground. Curious, the man stooped down to unfold it, and there was a lottery ticket inside. Unhappy that it was not a blank check, he made his way to the window of an electronics store, where he watched the television flash pictures of society and news. Suddenly, like a flash of light, the announcements for the forty-million dollar lottery came on: and he had won!
Well, thought you would like that story...and yeah..it's true.
Books!
The latest series I have read is The Wheel of Time, by Robert Jordan, (a fantasy series, medievalish)and I LOVED it! Full of adventure and a descriptive talent that only comes from the gift Jordan seems to have, the W.O.T. is a MUST-READ! What more can I say? If you like suspense and adventure, (yes, even if you don't normally read fantasy books), you mustread this.
Music!
Well, I have gotten a few CD's recently that I really like, and so I will go ahead and review the best albums first.
Pop: No Doubt: Tragic Kingdom! Even if it has been out for a little while, this CD is a fun and funky one you MUST listen to. My favorite song on the CD:'Spiderwebs'.
Classical: Pavarotti and friends for war child! This CD has great music, classically packed with artist crossovers and a few classics.
Rap: I don't listen to rap, so I don't know.
Soundtracks: Well, I really loved not only the 80's bubble-gum stuff from 'Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion,' but also the soundtrack to the hit 'That thing you do!'.
Audio Books!
Here are a few books on tape that I loved:
The Dolphins of Pern, by Anne McCaffrey,
and Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronté.
Both of these were given a new life, and a vivid reality, by the touch of a human voice. A must-hear!
This is all for right now, but more soon.
Go back to the start.
