Masquerade Chapters 38-39
Chapter 38
Sonny has grown tired of waiting for Mike and Alexis to let him know what is going on. He knows that something is wrong with Brenda. He can feel it in the deepest part of his soul, the part that is fundamentally connected to Brenda. He follows Mike and Alexis, prepared to demand to know what is happened.
Sonny: What has happened to Brenda?
Alexis: Nothing that I know about, Maybe she decided to leave you this time.
Sonny: No, something is wrong, I can feel it. We have got to find her and Robin.
Alexis: I have people put looking for both of them as we speak.
Sonny: That isn’t good enough. I have to go find her.
Mike: No, you have to be here waiting for her when she walks through that door.
Alexis: I’ll go, you two stay here.
Alexis grabs a flashlight and disappears out the door. Sonny watches her go with nervousness that is quickly turning to pure terror.
When Hannah got off the elevator on the top floor of the Harbor View Towers, she found the door to Sonny’s penthouse unguarded. She let herself in, using a key that Sonny had given her during a lapse in good judgment. All the lights were out and there was several days worth of mail on the desk. Sonny had obviously been gone for several days and didn’t plan on returning any time soon. She goes upstairs to the master bed room and puts her bags on the bed, then starts to unpack. Her and Sonny weren’t officially living together, but she knew he would ask her to move in as soon as he knew they were going to have a child together. She figures that she might as well be settled in when Sonny returns.
Hannah: It will be your welcome home present Sonny.
Even though she still has clothes at Kelly’s, she starts to hang her clothes in Sonny’s closet then opens a drawer to put the rest of her things away. Her eyes fall on a small box, perhaps a jewelry box.
Hannah: What do we have here?
She opens the box and finds several pairs of cuff links and some rings. One she recognizes as a ring that belonged to her father, Hernando Rivera, the other is Sonny’s wedding ring she from their marriage. In another section of the box she finds a diamond bracelet that she recognizes as belonging to Brenda. She knows that Sonny gave it to Brenda when they were first dating. She also finds the letter that Brenda wrote Sonny when she was trying to deal with her drug dependence. Hannah reads the letter and it almost makes her sick.
Hannah: Sonny doesn’t need those kind of reminders.
Hannah takes the bracelet and tosses it in the nearest trash can, she places the letter in her pocket, thinking that maybe she can use the information later. She also finds the diamond ankle bracelet that Sonny gave to Brenda on there wedding day. Hannah doesn’t recognize this piece of jewelry, so she figures that Sonny bought it for her. She puts the bracelet on her wrist and closes the jewelry box and puts it back in the drawer. Because she is exhausted from her trip, she lies down on the bed and tries to rest, but her mind is to active trying to figure out how she can best go about getting Sonny to marry her. She also wonders why Lopez was in such a hurry to get back to the United States. Especially since the two of them were having so much fun in Europe.
At the moment, Lopez is in the house on the island off of Chile. He is finishing his meeting with Luke which has transferred a large shipment of diamonds. In fact, it is the largest shipment Luke has unwittingly smuggled for the Second Cartel.
Lopez: I’m glad that you didn’t mind coming a day early.
Luke: It doesn’t really matter to me since you buy the ticket.
Lopez: Actually, I would think that you would welcome the chance to get rid of the goods early.
Luke: Actually, I kind of like having a supply of the rocks lying around it makes me feel wealthy.
Lopez: Judging from your fee, you are a very wealthy man, thanks to me and my associates.
Luke: Yeah, but paper money is nothing compared to these baby’s.
Luke picks up one of the diamonds. Lopez promptly swats his hand away.
Lopez: They are a good investment.
Luke: Is that what you are using them for, as an investment?
Lopez: You might say that I like keeping an insurance policy.
From a very secure room in the very same house, Lucky Spencer is being allowed to view the meeting on a video screen. The moment Luke walked into the meeting room, Luke began to try and attract his father’s attention. He yelled at the top of his lungs and threw things against the door and walls in his room. After nearly an hour, he has given up. Not because he feels defeated, because he has used every ounce of energy he has on trying to make his presence known. All around him tables and chairs have been tipped and toppled in an attempt to make enough noise for Luke to hear. This is the second meeting, in under a month, Lucky has observed between his captor and his father. Luke starts to leave the house, which prompts Lucky to start making a racket once more. Lucky finally realizes Luke must be in a part of the house too far removed from his room for his attempts at communication to be affective. He also realizes that this probably won’t be the last time his father will come to the island.
Lucky: *Out loud* I’ll find a way to reach you by the next time you come here dad.
He sits on the edge of his bed and stares at the wall, trying desperately to figure out how he can reach his father. As Luke leaves the island, he pauses for a moment and tries to figure out why he feels he has forgotten something very important. He decides that it must be his imagination and continues on his way back to Chile.
Back in the Port Charles, Hannah has given up on resting and has gone to Kelly’s to pack more of her belongings and move them to the penthouse. She finds Tammy behind the counter, making a fresh pot of coffee.
Tammy: Hi, sweetie, when did you get back?
Hannah: A few hours ago. Tammy, have you seen Sonny?
Tammy: Not for a few days, but I have a message here from Mike saying he is going to see Sonny.
Hannah: Did he mention if anything was wrong?
Tammy: He didn’t say anything, but I’m sure that Sonny is fine.
Hannah: I guess.
Tammy: Would you like some coffee, I just brewed a fresh pot.
At the moment there was nothing Hannah wanted more than a cup of coffee. However, she was supposed to be pregnant, so caffeine was out of the question.
Hannah: No thank you, I’m going up to my room to check and see if I have a message from Sonny.
Tammy: Okay, hey a trunk arrived for you, honey.
Hannah: Are you sure that it is for me?
Tammy: There was no name on the label but, it was addressed to your old room.
Hannah: You mean the one that Brenda is living in now?
Tammy: Yes, but I don’t think anyone knows Brenda is living here.
Hannah: Thanks Tammy, I’ll check it out.
Hannah goes up stairs and opens her door and sees the trunk. She notices that the return label is from Brooklyn New York. She opens the trunk and finds a piece of paper, which turns out to be a note from Mrs. Mckinsey to Brenda. Hannah read the letter with disgust.
Dear Ms. Barrett,
Here is the trunk that was in my attic for so many years. It contains all of Adela Corinthos’ belongs that were in the house when I purchased the house from her son. This items are much to precious to be left forgotten in a dusty attic. I hope you are able to preserve and cherish these items for years to come.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Wanda Mckinsey.
Hannah crumples the letter in anger and begins to look through the trunk.
Hannah: How dare Brenda think that she had a right to these things.
While looking through the trunk, she realizes that the wedding picture is of Mike and Adela. When she finds the wedding dress in its own box in the trunk she gets an idea. Hannah is convinced that Sonny will marry her sooner rather than later. Because Brenda destroyed her mothers wedding dress, she decides that she will wear Adela’s dress when she marries Sonny for the second time. She takes the dress out of the trunk and then carefully closes the lid, leaving the rest of the contents undisturbed.
Back on the island. Sonny has been pacing around the small room in the back of the chapel for the last 30 minutes.
Sonny: I’m going to go look for Brenda!
Mike: Alexis has it under control. You need to calm down, Michael.
Sonny: Tell me how I’m supposed to relax when Brenda could be in danger?
He gives Mike one of his patented perturbed looks.
Mike: You don’t know that Brenda is in danger. Let me get you something to drink.
Sonny: I don’t want a drink. I keep thinking about Laura Spencer.
Mike: You’re thinking about Laura right now?
Sonny: Yeah, you know, I was thinking about how she disappeared into the darkness one night.
Mike: She was kidnapped by the Cassadine’s wasn’t she?
Sonny: Exactly my point! Did you know that Helena was the one who poisoned Jax?
Mike: She hardly knew him, why would she want to be his killer?
Sonny: Because he meant something to Alexis or just because she is a dragon woman, who know?
Mike: I don’t think that Helena wants to kidnap Brenda.
Sonny could tell by the expression on Mike’s face that he didn’t believe his own words. He was worried about Brenda as well. Sonny doesn’t want to fight with Mike when they are both so concerned about Brenda, so he continues to pace. Outside, the night was darker than any Alexis could ever remember. So dark, in fact, that it threatened to swallow the light from the flashlights. Alexis had several people searching the area around the parameter of the house, calling out Brenda and Robin’s names. Finally, she hears Robin call back.
Robin: Alexis, is that you?
Alexis: Is Brenda with you, Robin?
Robin: Yes, but I have no idea where we are.
Alexis: Okay, I want you both to stand still, exactly where you are and tell me when you can see the light.
Alexis moves around for several minutes before she is close enough for Robin and Brenda to see the light from her flashlight.
Brenda: You are right in front of us now.
Alexis: Okay, do not move!
Alexis walks forward until her light illuminates Robin and Brenda, who both look frightened. They are even more terrified when the light shines on the area behind them and they realize that they are inches from the edge of a bottomless ravine. Alexis looks as if she expected as much and pulls them both forward a few feet.
Alexis: I was afraid of that, why didn’t you wait at the house?
Robin: Brenda isn’t good at waiting.
Alexis: I think I know why Sonny has to keep all of those bodyguards on staff.
Robin: He didn’t need body guards before he met Brenda.
Brenda gives her friend a perturbed look.
Robin: *Shrugs innocently* It’s the truth, Brenda.
Alexis: Maybe I should have left her better guarded.
Brenda: I don’t know about you two, but I have a wedding to attend.
She starts out in a random direction, away from the ravine. Alexis places a restraining hand on her arm and turns her another direction.
Alexis: It’s this way, Brenda. I think I should lead since I have the flashlight. Hold hands children!
Robin and Brenda follow Alexis to the chapel, which isn’t that far after all. As soon as they reached the lit path, Brenda knew exactly where she was.
Alexis: Both of you wait right here while I go scrape Sonny off the walls.
Brenda: Was he really that worried about us?
Alexis: Yes, he had every reason to be concerned. This area is dangerous at night!
Robin: I think we have learned our lesson.
Brenda: Sonny will want to see me in person.
Alexis: He will see you, the minute you walk through that door will be a moment he will never forget.
Robin: Alexis is right, you have to wait and make your grand entrance.
Brenda watches Alexis walk into the chapel.
Robin: I’m glad that we have these few minutes before the wedding, I have something for you.
Brenda: I don’t need anything from you, except your support.
Robin: I know but, you need something old and borrowed for your wedding.
Robin reaches into her jacket pocket and brings out an antique broach.
Brenda: That is beautiful and it looks very old.
Robin: My mother wore this when she married my stepfather. I want you to ware it tonight.
Robin pins the broach onto Brenda’s dress and both women wipe away a tear.
Brenda: I just thought of something.
Robin: Something you forgot?
Brenda: *Panicking* No, what if I open the doors and Sonny isn’t there?
Robin: You are just nervous.
Brenda: No, what if it is like at St. Andrews and I open the doors and Sonny isn’t there?
Robin: I should have there with you that evening, Brenda.
Brenda: What could you have done?
Robin: I could have at least supported you. I’m sorry, Brenda.
Brenda: What matters is that you are here now.
Robin: Sonny is going to be as well. This will be forever, Brenda. Sonny will take these vows seriously.
Brenda: I know, I can’t marry Sonny today and take it back tomorrow.
Alexis walks into the chapel and walks right up to Sonny and Mike.
Alexis: That fiancee of yours is a magnet for danger. She went straight for a ravine!
Mike: Where is Brenda now?
Alexis: I just left her outside the chapel, I think you need to get her a leash though.
Sonny lets out a sigh of relief.
Sonny: Are they all right?
Alexis: Robin and Brenda are fine, but a little anxious to get on with the show.
Mike: Okay, then I guess we had better take our places.
Alexis opens the door and sticks her head out to let Brenda and Robin know they are ready to begin.
Alexis: Okay, Robin, Brenda you two are on, here are your flowers.
She hands them there flowers and goes back to her seat. There is still a brief moment before Brenda walks through the door when she fears that Sonny will repeat his performance at there first wedding. Those fears melted like an icesicle in the sun when Brenda saw Sonny standing at the back of the church waiting for her. He is looking straight at her and smiling. Mike had been right, the moment Brenda walked through the door nothing else mattered. The world could have come to an end at that very moment, but he wouldn’t have noticed. All he saw was Brenda walking towards him, her dress shimmering in the candle light, the white flowers carefully placed in her hair and her eyes shining with joy. To Sonny, seeing the happiness in her eyes was the most beautiful sight in the world. Brenda reaches the end of the aisle and reaches her hand out to Sonny. He raises it to his lips and kisses it tenderly, then they walk together to stand before the priest and take their vows. To Brenda everything feels like a dream, one from which she never wants to wake. Robin takes Brenda’s flowers so that Sonny can hold both of her hands, which he does for the rest of the ceremony. The priest starts to speak and they both realize for the first time, they don’t understand a word he is saying. It shouldn’t have come as a surprise to them that Alexis had gotten a Greek Orthodox priest to perform the wedding.
Brenda: *Whispering to Sonny* What is going on?
Sonny: *Shrugging* It’s all Greek to me.
Brenda tries to smile at Sonny, while still remaining desecrate.
Brenda: Who are all these people?
Sonny: I think they are from the town, Alexis invited them.
The priest says something directly to Sonny and Brenda, which they don’t understand. However, much to their surprise, Mike does understand. He hands the rings to the priest, who blesses them and returns them to Mike. Then the priest turns to Sonny and Brenda and says something else. His words are met with a completely blank stare from both the bride and the groom. They both turn to Mike for a translation.
Mike: He wants you to recite your vows.
Sonny: In Greek?
Mike turns to the priest and asks him a question, then after he receives the answer, he turns back to Sonny and Brenda.
Mike: English will do nicely.
Sonny turns back to Brenda, then he looks at the congregation, which looks as if they are about to devour his every word. Sonny looks back at Brenda, who is looking at him with love and devotion in her eyes. Sonny doesn’t just want to exchange simple vows, he wants to say more. He wants to express what he is feeling in his heart. But he doesn’t know how to express the love he feels for Brenda, the woman who has saved him from the darkness that lurks in his soul. It is especially hard to find the words in front of so many strangers. He isn’t sure that he can air, in public, his most private feelings. He wants to express what he is feeling , but to Brenda alone.
Mike: Now would be a good time, Michael.
Sonny: I don’t think I can do this
He looks away in shame, unable to witness the probably pain in Brenda’s eyes at the moment. However, had he looked at her, he wouldn’t have seen pain or disappointment. He would have seen love and understanding, because Brenda did understand him on a level not shared by anyone else on earth.
Brenda: It’s okay, just tell me what you are feeling.
He looks at her once more, and completely removes himself from the room. He focus only on her and pretends that nothing else matters or exists.
Sonny: How can express what I feel? How can I let you know that my love for you is like an everlasting rose. It will never wilt or die, it grows more beautiful by the day. When I saw you tonight, I saw your beautiful eye and how they shine. I don’t really know what I’m looking at, when I look in your eye, but it is the most beautiful thing in the world to me, Brenda. It’s almost like we can see into each others souls and that is also beautiful. I don’t have that connection with anybody else in this world. I never have and I never will. You are my strength and my inspiration, I don’t know what I would ever do without you. But I don’t know how to find the words to say how much I love you or what you mean to me, baby.
Brenda: *With tears in her eyes.* You just did. Now it’s my turn.
Sonny: It doesn’t have to be fancy.
Brenda takes a deep breath and looks directly into Sonny’s eyes.
Brenda: What can I say to the man that I stopped loving 2 years ago when he broke my heart?
Panic surges through every cell in Sonny’s body momentarily. The thought crosses his mind that maybe Brenda never intended to marry him. Maybe this was her idea of the ultimate revenge, to get Sonny to publicly profess his love, then leave HIM at the altar. Luckily these thoughts only take a split second to enter and leave his mind, as Brenda continues.
Brenda: I don’t have an answer, because I don’t see that man standing before me at this moment. All I see is the man who I have loved with my whole heart and soul for what seems like my entire life. Sonny, you are the only man who I would consider giving myself to completely unconditionally. When we met, we were both alone in the world. I wasted so much time looking for a man to make me happy, the man of my dreams. I found my great love in my heart and soul mate. I found him in you, Michael Corinthos Jr. I love you forever.
They both smile and lean towards each other until their foreheads are touching. The priest says a few words over them and then Mike hands them the rings. Without being prompted they exchange rings, without once breaking their mutually, loving, gaze. They become blissfully unaware of anything else for several minutes until Mike coughs and brings them back to reality. Sonny gives his father a perturbed look.
Mike: You can kiss now, then your done.
Sonny doesn’t have to be told twice, he has been wanting to kiss Brenda ever since she walked into the room. He gently takes her face in his hands and kisses her with ever once of passion and fire he can muster. She returns his kiss with enthusiasm. They continue their unrestrained embrace until they both feel light headed. They pull back and are greeted with wild applause from the congregation. The instant they fall away from each other, they are met with congratulatory hugs from Robin and Mike. Then they are rushed by the congregation and physically swept away by a wave of well wishes. All the while, Sonny and Brenda held each others hands tightly and smiled and thanked everyone, even though all they really wanted was to be alone. They keep exchanging smoldering, almost indecent, looks. They were about ready to sneak out, but Alexis caught them at the door.
Alexis: Where do you think you are going?
Sonny: Call me crazy, I would kind of like to be alone with my wife.
Brenda: Ditto
Alexis: Too bad! You have a reception to attend!
Sonny: Do you rally think anyone would miss us?
Alexis: Let’s see, do I think they would notice a missing bride and groom? Yes!
Mike walks up to Brenda and gives her a hug.
Brenda: I’m so glad you were here, Mike.
Mike: I was happy to be invited.
Sonny: You kind of came in handy tonight. How long have you spoken Greek?
Mike: Since I was a boy, I had a grandmother who only spoke Greek.
Brenda: *To Sonny* Just think, I had to twist your arm to get you to invite him.
Sonny: Yes you did, no offense meant, pop.
Mike: None taken, I’m happy for both of you, you finally did the right thing.
Brenda: *Looking around* Where did Robin go?
Alexis: I think I saw her heading for the house, to the reception!
Sonny: Do you think she is trying to tell us something?
Brenda: Maybe she wants us to go to the reception?
Sonny: *Grinning* You think so?
Alexis: Okay, wise guys, lets go.
Brenda: Did you notice if Robin had my flowers?
Sonny: I think she did.
Mike: Are you two ready?
Brenda: *Reluctant* I guess so
Sonny: The sooner we go, the sooner we can leave.
Brenda: I like your thinking, honey.
Brenda gives Sonny a quick kiss and a smile. Alexis gives them a disappointed look, then takes them by the arms and leads the reluctant pair out the door and towards the house, where their wedding celebration awaits. In all of the confusion, no one notices that Brenda’s bridal bouquet has been left behind in the chapel.
Let me know what you think of this chapter and especially what you think of the wedding. The talk between Sonny and Robin will have to wait until the next chapter. What Sonny has to say to Robin will surprise her. I believe in building up relationships, not destroying them as has been happening on the real show lately. The scene with Lucky on the island was to show that he hasn’t lost his fighting sprit or given up hope that his father will rescue him. There are things about Lucky’s return on the show right now that have me puzzled. I don’t believe that Lucky could be brain washed or have his spirit broken by anyone. Lucky is a Spencer, and Spencer’s do not easily bend to the will of others, they are a strong breed of characters. On a somewhat sinister note, what Hannah does with Adela’s wedding dress is going to be disturbing, especially for Mike. Sonny and Brenda’s wedding night will take place in the next chapter, and they will be deliriously happy for a short while. However, they are both going to have to face the fact that Brenda has been through a lot in the past year and has good reasons for blocking some of it out.
Chapter 39
The wedding reception had lasted into the next morning and would probably continue long after Sonny and Brenda left for their hotel. The whole event had been very festive and very Greek. However, most of it was a blur to both the bride and the groom. After several hours, Sonny could tell that Brenda was running on automatic, she had a smile on her face, but he could see in her eyes at she was exhausted. She was standing alone at one end of the room, when he walks up and embraces her from behind. With his arms around her waist she literally melts against him, holding his hands in hers. She allows a euphoric smile to spread across her face. Being in Sonny’s arms was the most perfect place to be, but she was still tired.
Brenda: How much longer do you think this party will last?
Sonny: I’ve heard that they sometimes go on for days.
Brenda: *Groaning* I don’t think I can make it another hour, much less for days.
Sonny: Fortunately, we don’t have to say around.
Brenda turns around in Sonny arms and gives him a tried smile.
Brenda: We can go?
Sonny: As soon as you throw your bouquet, we are out of here.
Brenda: Good because, if we don’t leave soon I’m going to fall asleep on my feet.
Sonny: That would put a damper on the wedding night.
Brenda holds up his wrist to check his watch.
Brenda: *Blissfully * You mean wedding morning.
Sonny: When we finally get to be a lone, time is going to stand still, I promise you, baby.
He sensually whispers this into her hair, which renews Brenda’s energy slightly and she grabs her husband’s hand and takes off for the middle of the room.
Brenda: Lets throw the flowers and get out of here.
Sonny: Fine with me, does Robin have your bouquet?
Brenda: *Frowning* I don’t think so, but what else could have happened to them?
Sonny: We must have left them in the chapel. You wait right here and I’ll go look.
Brenda: Okay, because I’m almost positive we must have left the flowers in the chapel.
Sonny: I’ll be right back.
Mike is walking by in time to hear Sonny’s last statement.
Mike: Famous last words by a Corinthos male, if ever I heard them.
Brenda tries to ignore Mike’s skepticism, but a part of her still fears being abandoned by Sonny. On impulse she rushes out the door after him calling his name.
Brenda: Sonny, wait!
He stops when he hears her call his name. The a full moon had risen sometime ago, erasing the darkness Brenda had stepped into earlier. Sonny turns towards her and is delighted by what he sees, with the moonlight softly lighting her face and reflecting off of her hair, Brenda looks absolutely breath taking. However, he can tell something is bothering her, he can see it in the way she holds her body.
Sonny: What is it, sweetheart.
Brenda: Maybe I should go with you to the chapel.
He can hear a quivering worry in her voice and takes several strides back to her until he is able to enfold her in a protective embrace as a soft breeze blows against there clothes and hair.
Sonny: Your shivering, sweetheart.
Brenda: I guess I’m a little bit cold.
Sonny: I think I know how to warm you up.
He pulls her to him again and gives her a intense kiss that penetrates every never in her body and warms her to her very soul. Minutes later they break apart, both out of breath. He holds her in his arms and they both stare up at the stars and the moon. An amazing sense of peace washes over them both. Brenda wasn’t afraid anymore, she know he was finally telling the truth, he isn’t going to abandon her. Sonny knows the same thing, after living with so much pain and regret for over a year, he is finally happy.
Brenda: I’m not cold anymore.
Sonny: Good, now wait for me inside, out of the cold.
Brenda: Okay, you must think I’m extremely silly.
Sonny: Never! I think you have some real insecurities that I’m going to work hard to erase.
Brenda kisses him on the cheek.
Brenda: I trust you, Sonny.
She turns and walks back into the house. He watches her until he knows that she is safely inside the building, then he walks quickly to the chapel. He had grabbed a flashlight from the house, in case it was dark in the chapel. He is surprised to find that the candles are still burning, illuminating the chapel with a bright glow. He is also surprised to see Robin sitting on one of the benches at the front of the church. She truns around as soon as she hears someone behind her. Sonny walks up to the bench and seeing the flowers beside Robin, he pick them up.
Sonny: Brenda forgot these when we left for the reception.
Robin: I guess great minds think alike, that was what I came back here to find, then I kind of got stuck here.
Sonny sits down beside Robin and puts his arm on the back of the bench.
Sonny: I don’t blame you, it’s nice here, it is kind of peaceful.
Robin: You look good Sonny, I mean you look happy.
Sonny: I’m beyond happy. How are you doing?
Robin: I’m good. I have been working as a research assistant.
Sonny: That sounds like it would be good experience.
Robin: It is, plus it helps to pay the rent.
Sonny: Robin, are you having financial problems?
Robin: No, the assistantship really helps, plus not having to pay any of my medical.
Sonny: *Innocently* Oh, is that part of your assistantship?
Robin: You don’t have to pretend with me, I know you have been paying for my medication.
Sonny: I had a trust set up for you from the start, if it bothers, you let me know right away.
Robin: I will, I don’t mind you paying my medical bills Sonny, if you don’t mind.
Sonny: Good, because I promised Stone I would take care of you, and that is what is going to happen.
Robin: I know, I have so many more options than Stone had when he died.
Sonny: I couldn’t save him, but I’m not giving up on you, Robin.
Robin is genuinely moved by Sonny’s efforts, she always knew he was the one who was paying for her medication and her other medical bills. However, she had though for a while that Sonny might have been doing it out of habit. Now she realizes that the promises he made to Stone still means as much to Sonny as it means to her.
Robin: The wedding was beautiful, Sonny. In fact, I would say that it was nearly perfect.
Sonny: I know, Alexis did a really good job pulling the whole thing together.
Robin: You know what I mean, Brenda was happy tonight.
Sonny: That is the only thing that matters. It meant a lot to have you here Robin.
Robin: I’m surprised to hear you say that. I thought I was the last person you wanted to see ever.
Sonny: Why would you think that sweetie?
Robin: I know you’re angry at me, Sonny. I figured you wouldn’t want to see me.
