Masquerade chapters 7-8

Chapter 7
Sonny was out of the limo almost before it came to a stop. He desperately looks around for Hannah’s car, and finds that it is gone. The stop at the Spencer’s had cost him to much time. Desperate and having no where else to turn he picks up his cell phone and dials Jason.

Jason: *Irritated* Hello?
Sonny: It’s me.
Jason: How did you find me?
Sonny: It’s Friday night, everyone knows that you and Carly spend Friday nights in a room above Jake’s.
Jason: Not everybody knows, Sonny. that is the point of doing it.
Sonny: Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me.
Jason: I know that you won’t say anything to anyone.
Sonny: If sleeping with Carly in a dump, once a week, is what gets you off, who am I to judge?
Jason: Did you need something or did you just call to prove your theory?
Sonny: I need the ELQ jet, can you get it for me?
Jason: Probably, is something wrong?
Sonny: Nothing to do with business, this is personal, but it is kind of an emergency.

Carly’s voice can be heard in the back ground.

Carly: What does he want?
Jason: He wants the to use the jet.
Carly: No way!
Jason: He says the it is an emergency.
Carly: Tell him to go to hell!
Sonny: Tell her I heard that!
Jason: Sonny, is it really important?
Sonny: Do you think that I would be calling if it wasn’t important?
Jason: Come on Carly, it isn’t like he has really done anything to you lately.
Carly: He hasn’t done anything for me either!
Jason: Will you do it as a personal favor to me, please?
Sonny: Do not beg her for me.
Carly: Okay, I’ll do it for you Jace. Sonny has to call me the Queen of ELQ!
Sonny: That is not going to happen!
Carly: There is more. He also has to say that he bows down to me.
Sonny: I would rather walk to New York than call her the queen of ELQ and bow down to her!
Carly: Did he say it?
Jason: As close as we are going to get.
Carly: The jet can be ready in 20 minutes. It will be fueled and waiting when he gets to the airport.
Jason: The plane will be waiting for you. Do you need back up?
Sonny: I can handle this.
Carly: Tell him he owes me big time!
Sonny: I don’t know why I keep stock in ELQ, the new CEO is a pain in the ass to deal with.
Jason: What have I told you about respect for Carly?
Sonny: She may be great in bed, Jason she is almost impossible to deal with in the boardroom.
Jason: Call me when you get back. The books at the warehouse need to be checked.
Sonny: Does it have to be done right away?
Jason: Before the end of next week.
Sonny: I’ll get to it before then.
Jason: Watch your back.
Sonny: You too.

Jason hangs up the phone and turns to Carly.

Carly: What did he say about me?
Jason: Nothing more than usual.
Carly: You know, I’m not going to keep giving him favors unless he starts to treat me better!
Jason: Sonny is the last thing that I want to think about right now.

He starts to kiss her neck.

Jason: Where were we?
Carly: About here.

She kisses Jason passionately and runs her hands across his chest and around to his back .

Mike and Brenda are sitting in the living room of the Spencer’s house.

Brenda: I’m so glad to see you, Mike.
Mike: Not nearly as glad as I am to see you. I hope that Laura doesn’t mind me coming by so late.
Brenda: I don’t think that Laura minds at all.
Mike: As soon as Sonny told me you were alive I had to see for myself. Maybe I should have waited.
Brenda: Actually it is kind of nice to see a friendly face. Did you see anyone else outside.
Mike: No, I think Johnny is the only one that Sonny has assigned to here.
Brenda: I was thinking of someone else. There was this strange friend of Luke’s here earlier.
Mike: I think that strange pretty much describes all of Luke’s friends in one way or another.
Brenda: There was something really spooky about this Krieg guy.
Mike: I would believe just about anything right now.
Brenda: None of this must make much sense to you, I wish I could explain where I’ve been.
Mike: It is enough to just have you back is more than enough for me, the rest will come with time.
Brenda: A lot has happened, a lot has changed.
Mike: True, but some things never change.
Brenda: Did Sonny tell you that Hannah was at the penthouse when I showed up?
Mike: It must have slipped his mind.
Brenda: Is Sonny happy.
Mike: He seems happy at times, but he can also be hard to read.
Brenda: All I have ever wanted was for him to be okay.
Mike: I can’t say for certain that he is okay. I know that he wasn’t for a long time after you disappeared.
Brenda: He came back to Port Charles, though.
Mike: He had to, he was self distrusting where he was hiding.
Brenda: He seems fine now, and she makes him happy?
Mike: Sometimes I think that Hannah makes him happy.
Brenda: You have your doubts?
Mike: Sometimes I think she might just be another part of his self destruction.
Brenda: Most of the time I don’t think even Sonny knows what his true feelings are.
Mike: There is one thing that I’m certain about, my son loves you Brenda.
Brenda: Yeah, I know.

Before they can continue they hear a scream from upstairs. Laura comes out of the kitchen very quickly.

Laura: What was that?
Brenda: It came from upstairs.

She rushes upstairs to check on Leslie Lu and Liz, in a few minutes Liz comes downstairs, looking absolutely terrified.

Brenda: Are you okay?
Liz: No, I mean I don’t know!
Mike: Why don’t you sit down and tell us what happened?
Liz: I had a dream, only it was more than a dream.
Brenda: Do you want to talk about it?

Mike and Brenda can both tell that she is very upset.

Liz: You’ll think I’m crazy.
Mike: We won’t think that, sweetie.
Liz: I had a dream about Lucky. Only it was more than that, it was real.
Brenda: What do you mean?
Liz: I could see him as clear as I can see the two of you.
Brenda: What was he doing?
Liz: He was on a bed in a gray room with no windows. Almost like a prison.

She closes her eyes and tries to remember details of the room.

Liz: It had a lot of metal and there was a metal door at one end.
Mike: Was it a hospital?
Liz: I don’t think so, but the light was harsh like in a hospital and there were shelves.

Laura comes down the stairs just in time to hear the description.

Laura: What was on the shelves?
Liz: CD’s, clothes, books, one, no, two CD players. There was a computer in the room too.
Laura: The man that was here before was in the room as well?
Liz: *Looking surprised* How did you know?
Laura: Because my 5 year old daughter just described the exact same thing!
Liz: How can that be?
Laura: I don’t know, but she just told me that Lucky wasn’t in heaven, he was on an island!
Mike: The man that you are talking about is the associate of Luke’s?
Laura: *She is angry* Yes, Krieg is his name.
Brenda: He unnerved us all, maybe that is the explanation for the dreams.
Laura: My daughter that never dreams, described the exact same room as Elizabeth!
Mike: Liz, did you tell Lulu about your dream?
Liz: No, I would never tell her something so frightening!
Brenda: There has to be an explanation.
Liz: Lucky isn’t dead, he is being held by someone!
Laura: We all wish something like that could be true, honey.
Liz: It is true.
Laura: Even if it is true there is nothing that we can do about it tonight.
Liz: *Desperate* You don’t believe me! You think that it’s impossible!
Mike: I do, Brenda is a living breathing example of the impossible.
Liz: I think I want to go home!
Laura: Okay, sweetie. I’ll drive you home. Brenda can you stay here with Lulu?
Brenda: Do you think she will wake up and want you?
Laura: It should only take me a little while to take Liz home, besides she is out for good now.
Brenda: I’m sure that we’ll be fine.
Liz: I’m going to go call my Gram.
Laura: You can use the phone in the kitchen.
Mike: I hate to be a bum, but would you mind dropping me off at the club?
Laura: Was Luke at the club?
Mike: He was when I left.
Laura: I think I need to have a word with my husband about his associates! Is that where your car is?
Mike: Yes.
Brenda: How did you get here?
Mike: Sonny dropped me off, actually more like he drove up and booted me out of the car.
Brenda: *Disappointed* He could have come into the house.
Mike: He was in a hurry to get somewhere, but don’t ask me where.
Laura: Are you sure that you’ll be okay here alone, Brenda?
Brenda: I’m never alone when I have one of Sonny’s bodyguards lurking around.
Laura: I’ll take that as a yes. I’m going to go check on Lulu and then we can leave.

Laura goes upstairs.

Brenda: I feel really bad about this.
Mike: Why?
Brenda: Because they probably had those dreams because of me and my return from the dead.
Mike: Who knows, maybe they are on to something.
Brenda: Can I ask you something and will you tell me the truth?
Mike: If I know the answer.
Brenda: Why did Jax leave town?
Mike: That is complicated and to tell you the truth all I know is what I heard or read.
Brenda: Anything will help.
Mike: He tired to take over ELQ and things got very messy. You should ask Ned for the details.
Brenda: I’m going to see him tomorrow.
Mike: You don’t need to worry about the how and why tonight, but he almost went to jail.
Brenda: For a hostile takeover?
Mike: Things got out of hand and there was an accidental death, it got to be a real mess.
Brenda: This is all to much to handle in one night.
Mike: don’t think about any of it for now, sweetie.
Brenda: I’m going to have to start thinking about it soon.
Mike: What do you have to worry about?
Brenda: For one thing, I don’t know where I’m going to live. I wonder if there are any rooms over Kelly’s?
Mike: To my knowledge Hannah is the only one living there, but you may not want her as a neighbor.
Brenda: I really don’t care who my neighbors are. You have no idea where Sonny went?
Mike: None what so ever, but don’t worry, he’ll be back.
Brenda: What makes you so sure?
Mike: He isn’t going to be able to stay too far away from you for very long, Brenda.

She silently finds herself hoping that Mike is right. A the moment, Sonny is frantically searching for Hannah in A fourth New York city area airport of the night. He rushes to a gate where a plane bound for San Diego is just about to take off. He runs up to the ticket counter out of breath and practically accosts the agent..

Sonny: I have to look on that plane for a passenger!
Agent: That is impossible without a ticket.

He throws a credit card on the counter and storms past the agent, calling back.

Sonny: Charge it to the name on the card!

Sonny rushes up the breeze way and into the plane. Most of the passengers are settled into their seats and he quickly spots Hannah. She looks up at him with a surprised look on her face.

His eyes meet hers and a wild expression passes between them. He suddenly feels like he has been here before, he can’t pinpoint the feelings, but something about the situation is all to familiar. A flight attendant tries to block his path.

Attendant: Sir, do you have a ticket for this flight?
Sonny: Yes I do, I’m using ticketless travel.

Hannah gives him a desperate look.

Hannah: Sonny you shouldn’t be here!
Sonny: I had to come, do you think I would just let you walk out of my life?
Hannah: I never was a part of your life.
Sonny: You are my life, Hannah, you are my future. I can’t see my life without you.
Hannah: I won’t make you choose a life that you can’t live with.
Sonny: You aren’t making me choose.
Hannah: If I stay it will be like I’m keeping you as my prisoner. I won’t do that!
Sonny: You are the one that set me free, you saved me.
Hannah: No honey, you saved yourself.
Sonny: No I was dying before I meet you and you rescued me from my own living hell.

Tears are streaming down his face, he has worked himself into a hysterical fit.

She reaches out and takes his hand.

Sonny: Please don’t leave me, Sonny, don’t send me back to that hell that you pulled me from.
Hannah: I won’t leave you Sonny! But you have to promise to protect me!
Hannah: Protect me from them!
Sonny: I promise, just don’t leave me alone. I want you to be my future, I want you to be my wife.
Hannah: What did you just say?
Sonny: I want you to marry me, please say that you will be my wife?

Hannah is shocked that Sonny would ask her, but not as shocked as he is to hear the words come out of his own mouth. He almost feels like he is in a daze, as if desperation has taken over his mind. He isn’t even sure how the words got into his mouth. It doesn’t feel right, but before he can take the words back Hannah has thrown her arms around him.

Hannah: Yes, I’ll marry you!
Sonny: *Looking surprised* You will?
Hannah: Yes, now lets go home.

She leads Sonny off the plane, failing to notice that he seems dazed and confused. One question keeps going through his mind, "What about Brenda? He cares about Hannah, but he doesn’t love her. The thought that he should be concentrating on is why is Hannah willing to marry him when she knows that he loves Brenda? Hannah wants his protection, but from who or what is he offering his protection? At the moment, Brenda doesn’t seem to matter to Hannah. The reason that she was running away hasn’t gone away, It just doesn’t seem to matter that Sonny is in love with another woman.

Laura pulls the car up to the front of the club.

Laura: I’m kind of starting to worry about leaving Brenda alone with LeslieLu.
Mike: She isn’t alone, Johnny is with her.
Laura: That isn’t very comforting.
Mike: He is very good with my godson Michael.
Laura: The man carries a gun for crying out loud!
Mike: I’m sure he didn’t bring it in to the house, he never wears it around Michael.
Laura: Just the same, I think I had better take Elizabeth home and then go home myself.
Liz: You are going to wait to talk to Luke?
Laura: It can wait until morning, by then maybe I Won’t be so angry!
Liz: Do you mind if I stay here? There is something that I would like to ask Luke.
Laura: Do you want me to wait and take you home?
Liz: No, I can find my own way home.
Mike: I don’t think that it is a very good idea for you to be walking home late at night.
Liz: I’ll find my way home safely.
Laura: Okay, if that is what you really want.
Liz: Thank you.

Mike and her climb out of the car and walk into the club.

Mike: Is Luke around?
Waitress: He’s in the office.
Mike: *To Liz* I’ll wait for you and take you home.
Liz: I can call Gram to come get me.
Mike: I think you have called her enough for tonight. Go talk to Luke and I’ll wait.

Elizabeth takes a deep breath before going into the office. Luke looks up, a little irritated, then realizes it is her and smiles.

Luke: Hello, Elizabeth.
Liz: If this is a bad time I can come back.
Luke: I always have time for you. What can I do for you?
Liz: There is no easy way for me to ask this, but you always said you would grant me a favor.
Luke: Of course, just name it.
Liz; I don’t think that Lucky is dead. I would like for you to retest the DNA on the body in his coffin.

Luke gives her an absolute shocked look.

Chapter 8
Brenda was pacing nervously around the area outside of the Quartermaine gate house when Sonny walks up. In his mind he knows that he shouldn’t be around her, he should just come back later, but his head and his heart aren’t on the same wavelength and he finds himself moving towards Brenda. He once told her that the two of them were drawn together like moths to a flame. That might not have been the most romantic analogy, but he couldn’t deny then or now that something draws them to each other. Brenda seems to be having a hard time deciding whether or not to go into the gate house. She is so deep in thought that she doesn’t notice Sonny slide up behind her. He leans in close to her and whispers in her ear.

Sonny: If you are trying to decide to make a run for it, I know of an island in the Caribbean ocean where you can hide out.

Having him stand so close affects Brenda physically. Her heart beats a little faster and the blood in her rushes to her head, until she feels almost giddy. A fleeting smile crosses her face, but it is gone by the time that she turns to face Sonny. She looks directly into his eyes, gives him and intense look and gives him an almost seductive smile.

Brenda: Would you be on this island?

She catches him off guard and she is standing so close to him that it would be so easy to take her face in his hands and kiss her. For a moment he finds he can’t breath. He wants to say "yes." If he thought it would work he would grab her and run off with her, never looking back. Instead, he shakes his head.

Sonny: Naw, I don’t run away from my problems any more.
Brenda: I see, well for your information, I wasn’t thinking about running either.
Sonny: What’s up then? Don’t tell me that Ned is in a meeting and made you step outside.
Brenda: I haven’t even seen him, I’m not really sure what to say to him after being dead for a year.
Sonny: I’ve never been in that situation myself, but I’m sure the two of you won’t be at a loss for words.
Brenda: We can always talk about Jax.
Sonny: I would approach that topic carefully.
Brenda: Then we can talk about Lois and Brook.
Sonny: Cerullo must be thrilled to know that you are alive.
Brenda: I don’t really know.
Sonny: Did you talk to her?
Brenda: Yeah, but she was screaming so much, I still don’t know what she was saying.
Sonny: Is she going to come down?
Brenda: Actually, I’m going to stop by on my way to Paris and see Lois.
Sonny: I thought that you weren’t planing on running away?
Brenda: I’m not moving to Paris, Sonny.
Sonny: I know that, I just thought you might want to stay put for a week or two.
Brenda: Do you really think that is what I need or is that what you need?
Sonny: Why would you think this is about me?
Brenda: Because you’re worried about me going to Paris.
Sonny: You’re a big girl, you can go where you like.
Brenda: You’re lying, Sonny. Don’t even try to deny it, because I know you too well.
Sonny: Brenda you just got back from god only knows where, I thought maybe you would like to relax.
Brenda: I can relax at the Cerullo’s and in Paris. You want to tell me what is really going on here?
Sonny: I just don’t want you to go to Paris.
Brenda: Why not? If you have a good reason why I should stay here, let me hear it!

Sonny knows what she is asking, she wants him to say that he wants here to stay and be with him.
Things aren’t that simple though, staying would put her in danger. She means to much to him, he won’t put her back in the line of fire. So he just shrugs his shoulders and prepares to let go, again.

Sonny: I don’t have a good reason for you to stay, so you should go.

She is disappointed and perturbed and it comes through loud and clear in her face and in her voice.

Brenda: Fine, what are you doing here anyway?
Sonny: I came to talk to Ned.
Brenda: I guess I should knock on the door.
Sonny: I’ll do it.

He reaches around her and knocks on the door. Ned reluctantly opens the door, but he smiles broadly when he sees Brenda. They hug warmly and Sonny is glad to see that Brenda is happy. Ned pulls back from her and eyes Sonny suspiciously.

Ned: Are you to together?

Brenda gives Sonny a disgusted look.

Brenda: Not at all, we just happened to be at the same place at the same time.

She gives Sonny a self satisfied look and he gives her a dimpled grin.
Ned: What are you doing here, Corinthos?
Sonny: I thought I would visit Lila, but I wanted to check with you first.
Ned: I think she would love to see you, she always enjoys your visits.
Sonny: I also wanted to let you know that the ELQ jet is back safe and sound.
Ned: Had it been somewhere?
Sonny: I borrowed it last night to go to New York City.
Brenda: What was in New York?

Sonny couldn’t bring himself to tell her that he had gone after Hannah or that he had asked her to be his wife, so he lies.

Sonny: Business.
Ned: ELQ business?
Sonny: Not really, but I actually sent the jet back last night.
Brenda: How did you get back then?
Sonny: I drove back this morning.
Brenda: Was Hannah with you?
Sonny: Has anyone told you lately that you ask too many questions?
Brenda: There was this guy who used to tell me that all the time.
Sonny: You didn’t pay attention to him, did you?
Brenda: Not once.
Ned: Uh, Sonny, do you want me to call up to the main house and let them know you’re coming?
Sonny: I’ll take my chances with the surprise route.
Ned: Don’t forget about the board meeting on next Friday.
Sonny: Where has her majesty, Queen Carly, demanded that we gather?
Ned: The ELQ board room at 3:00. Oh, by the way you have to bring desert.
Sonny: She does that on purpose, she knows that I don’t do deserts.
Ned: consider yourself lucky, I have to find some rare brand of bottled water.
Sonny: I’ll pick up some donuts on my way to the board room.

Sonny turns to Brenda and gives her a look that she doesn’t really understand. Part of her wants to believe that he doesn’t want her to go, but then he gets a distant, almost cold look in his eyes.

Sonny: If I don’t see you again, enjoy your trip, tell Cerullo I said hello.
Brenda: Take care, Sonny.

Sonny leaves and Ned gives Brenda a worried look.

Ned: What was all of that about?
Brenda: What are you talking about?
Ned: Those looks that you and Sonny were exchanging.
Brenda: You must be imagining things Ned. There were no looks between Sonny and me.
Ned: *In a disbelieving tone* Yeah, Right!
Brenda: There is nothing between Sonny and me, and I don’t want to talk about him anymore!
Ned: Fine with me. Did I hear that unmentionable person say that you were going to see Lois?
Brenda: *Getting excited* Yes, do you want to come with me to see her and Brook?
Ned: It has been several weeks since I’ve seen my daughter. So if I go, it will be to see her.
Brenda: Of course, I think we understand each other perfectly, Ned.
Ned: We always did understand each other, it is so good to have you back.

Luke had just finished looking over the file on the DNA from the body in his son’s grave. It must have been the hundredth time that he had looked at it in the last half hour and he still didn’t know what to make of the information it contained. He is so lost in thought that he doesn’t notice that Laura has been standing in front of him for several minutes.

Laura: *Angry* Luke, we have to talk!
Luke: You got that right, angel.
Laura: Rather late last night one of your associates paid me a visit.
Luke: Who?
Laura: A man calling himself Krieg. I don’t know if it was a first name or a last name.
Luke: Heer Krieg came to visit you, is it already September?
Laura: Who is this man and what does he want?
Luke: Just a business associate, but he should have come to the house.
Laura: He did and he upset LeslieLu, Liz and my house guest.
Luke: How is the beautiful Ms. Barrett readjusting to life?
Laura: You know about Brenda?
Luke: Sonny stopped by last night.
Laura: Why should I be surprised. Brenda is doing fine, but your friend gave Liz and Lulu nightmares.
Luke: I know, Elizabeth told me about her dream.
Laura: Will you please tell Heer Krieg or whatever is name is to stay away from my home?
Luke: Sure.
Laura: I can see that you are busy, so I’ll leave you to your work.

She turns to leave.

Luke: Wait a minute, there is something that I need to share with you.

He hands her the file, which she looks through.

Laura: What am I looking at?
Luke: That is the original DNA test that the police conducted after the fire.
Laura: You mean the one that killed Lucky?
Luke: Supposedly, only that DNA does not match the DNA that I had tested this morning.
Laura: I’m confused. What DNA did you have tested this morning.
Luke: Let me spare you the gory details and just get right to the point, our son didn’t die in that fire.
Laura: Have you lost your mind or are you trying to hurt me for some reason?
Luke: I’m not trying to hurt you Laura, but the DNA is not the same!
Laura: What isn’t the same?
Luke: The DNA that the police reported as belonging to Lucky does not match the DNA that General Hospital has on file and neither of them matches the DNA from the body that we buried.
Laura: How would you know this?
Luke: I told you that I wanted to spare you the gory details.
Laura: Oh my god! You dug up our son?
Luke: I feel sorry for whoever that is, but it isn’t our son.
Laura: When did you do this?
Luke: I hired some men to do it last night and the lab ran the tests this morning.
Laura: DNA tests take weeks or at the most day, how did you get the results so fast.
Luke: I mentioned Sonny’s name, and don’t ask me why, but it got results.
Laura: That don’t match the DNA on file at the hospital.
Luke: Right, and I know that there was no mistake this time because I had Bobbie supervise.
Laura: How could this happen?
Luke: I think that someone went to a lot of trouble to make sure that we think our son is dead?
Laura: Some one faked Lucky’s death?
Luke: I’m starting to think so.
That is horrible, who would want to cause us that much pain?
Luke: I’ve been thinking about that. Now, fake deaths are not uncommon in our family.
Laura: Are you saying that this is a rite of passage that our son has to go through?
Luke: No, I was thinking that it is more like a curse. A Cassadine curse to be exact.
Laura: You think that the Cassadine’s took Lucky?
Luke: They are the top of my list of suspects, after all they did it to you and Leslie.
Laura: I don’t think that Stefan knows anything about this.
Luke: After everything that he has done, you are still defending the guy.
Laura: Granted, he kept his mother in a catatonic state for months, but she deserved it!
Luke: Which brings us to Helena, who has been out of commission for several months.
Laura: I wouldn’t put it past her to have kidnapped Lucky, then tormented me the way that she did.
Luke: That is her style.
Laura: If any of this is true, than the woman is pure evil.
Luke: No doubt Some one had to keep an eye on Lucky while Count Vlad held mummy dearest down for the count.
Laura: Do you really think that Lucky is alive?
Luke: I don’t know what to think. All I know is that he didn’t die in that fire, and he is a fighter.
Laura: He is alive Luke, can you feel that?

She takes his hand in hers.

Luke: I feel something, for the first time in a long time, but I don’t know what it is exactly.
Laura: It’s called hope. We have to find him and bring him home.
Luke: We can try, but I don’t know where to start.
Laura: Sonny can help you.
Luke: I’m not sure that we should bring a whole bunch of people into this.
Laura: There are some people that have to know.
Luke: Right, like Elizabeth.
Laura: You need to tell Sonny, he can help us find Lucky. Also, he needs to know that he doesn’t have to blame himself for the death of our son anymore.
Luke: Sonny doesn’t blame himself, he knows that it was an accident.
Laura: You know him better than that. He feels that if he hadn’t taken Lucky in, he might be alive today.
Luke: I guess you’re right. He has always been a good friend.
Laura: You owe it to him to release him from that guilt.
At the moment Sonny was driving alone on a deserted country road. His visit with Lila had been brief,
he knew that Brenda would want to see her as well and he didn’t want to tire Lila out.
He and Hannah had returned from New York earlier that day, before he went to see Ned.
Hannah had agreed to wait a while before announcing their engagement to the world.
Sonny had convinced her that it was because he wanted to get her a ring first.
He had even believed this excuse himself, for about 5 minutes.
Then the truth started to creep into his head,
asking Hannah to marry him had been the worst mistake he had ever made. He cared about Hannah, but he wasn’t in love with her. The more he thought about it, he couldn’t even see a future with her. When he thought about the person he wanted to grow old with he could only see the face of one woman………………………………………..

Sonny: *Talking out loud* Brenda, why can’t I stop thinking about you?

Of course, he didn’t get an answer, he was alone. He had dropped Hannah off at Kelly’s diner before he went to the Quartermaine’s and then borrowed her car. He told her that he had errands to run and would come by and see her later. She probably thought that he was off buying her an engagement ring. He wasn’t sure how he was going to get around that problem, but avoiding buying Hannah a ring was the least of his problems. He had to work through his feelings for Brenda. The only way that he was going to do that was by facing them head on and there was only one place that he could complete that task, and hopefully understand his feelings for Brenda.
