Interview With Chris and Daniel from the Phillipines
By Friq and Kirt

We were actually taping the interview for TV (sorry, Ben wasn't there) so we started out with...

DANIEL: (to the camera) Ma-boo-hai. [Mabuhay is kinda like the aloha of the Philippines] I'm Daniel.

CHRIS: Hi Philippines, I'm Chris... hope you guys really rock here, yeah.

FRIQ (interviewer): Could you give us your birthdays and an introduction, for the record?

DANIEL: Ma-boo-hai. My birthday is the 22nd of April, 1979.

CHRIS: Mine's the 10th of November, 1979. We all went to school with each other, and early on, Ben and Daniel were playing with each other (suddenly realizes what tha sounds like)...

DANIEL: (pointedly) We were playing with each other...

CHRIS: Well, not playing with each other... they did drums and guiter a bit, and I started playing bass with them. We did covers first, then originals later on.

FRIQ: The songs on frogstomp, when did you write those?

DANIEL: Between the ages of 14 and 16... a few of them, we look back and kinda laugh, because lyrically they're not very good, especially one song but I'm not gonna say what... we just still think it's a good rock n'roll album, it's loud and energetic.

FRIQ: If you had a choice, would you change anything?

DANIEL: No. I wouldn't change anything because it's always good to change and improve and step up... make progressions... except for the lyrics of one song (grins).

KIRT (other interviewer): What about the industry gets you off the most?

DANIEL: Pretty much everything...

CHRIS: Just the whole kinda business side of it comes out, and how people have all these "this is how we do it, blah, blah, blah." Sometimes you just wanna have nothing to do with it.

DANIEL: To some people, it gets more about how much money they can make out of you... and they kinda forget about the music, forget about what you're doing it for in the first place.

FRIQ: Have you had people who have tried to manipulate you?
DANIEL: Not really manipulate you, but they can tell you how much money you can make if you do a certain thing and they seem to think it has any influence over you, but it doesn't (shakes his head). You can makeas much money as you want, but if you're not enjoying what you're doing, it's pointless... (pauses)... unless you're a doctor, and I don't think you'd be too happy about chopping people up.

FRIQ: Do you fell you're unwilling role models?

DANIEL: No. We're not role models. And even if we are, we wouldn't take responsibility for anything.

FRIQ: Why not?
DANIEL: Because... we do what we want. We shouldn't have to feel responsibility for anyone else.

CHRIS: It's just another responsibility, basically.

KIRT: What do you do to keep success from getting to your head?

DANIEL: Buy Matchbox cars and build Lego castles.

KIRT: How do you deal with being famous, all these girls coming up to you...

DANIEL: (deadpan serious) Usually, we just take them back to the hotel and have sex and then go... (looks at interviewers reactions, they are all cracking up)... just joking! No, I was just kidding!

KIRT: We're gonna keep that on the record!

DANIEL: (seriously) No, we don't pay attention to any of that.

CHRIS: (grins lopsidedly) They think we're famous and we're not.

DANIEL: The definition of a rock star is someone who takes advantage of his position and we don't do it.

KIRT: Daniel, if you could go back in time and either a. assassinate someone or b. save someone from death, who would it be and why?

DANIEL: I'd save Hendrix, and ask if I could buy his guitar. And then, if he said 'no', I'd assasinate him.

FRIQ: (to chris) Who amongst the three of you would make the best drag queen and why?

CHRIS: Ben. He's kinda like the crazy one. He'd be real great... he'd strut really well.

FRIQ: Well, since we've been doing all the asking, maybe you'd have some questions you'd like to ask us?

DANIEL: Yeah! If you had to be a guy, who would you be and would the size of your dick matter?

FRIQ: Tom Cruise!

DANIEL: Tom Cruise? Yeah? So, would it matter?

FRIQ: Nah.

DANIEL: It wouldn't?

FRIQ: Nah. It wouldn't. Why? Would it matter to you?

DANIEL: No, I was just wondering... I don't have anymore questions. (sheepishly)

CHRIS: What was your most embarrassing moment?

(Friq tells Chris of the time two huge chunks of chocolate donut came out her nose)

DANIEL: (nods to himself) Cool!
