silverchair is a band from Newcastle Australia and they've been together for about seven years. Daniel and Ben first started writing rap songs together and called themselves Short Elvis. Later on, they became the Innocent Criminals when Chris joined the band. After winning a national demo competition in 1994, the band won a free video shoot and an afternoon in the recording studio of Triple J, Australia's national alternative rock station. In 1995, they released their first record, Frogstomp (which has sold 4 million copies around the world) when they were only 15! Then two years after that, they recorded their follow up, Freak Show, an album that shows they've matured both musically and lyrically. After months of touring and a year off for resting, silverchair released their third album Neon Ballroom on March 16, 1999, their best album yet.
