Tourist Information Radio
TIS is known as Tourist Information Stations. They are those stations found on your am/fm dial that you hear when you are on the highway, in national parks, bridges, ect. For example the Mackinac Bridge Authority owns and operates a TIS station on 530 AM it broadcasts information about conditions on the bridge. These stations use very low power so picking them up is evan more interesting. Here is a database of TIS stations.
US Local Government
TIS List from the FCC's WTB database - Location Sort - A list of local government operated Travelers Information Stations (TIS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) stations sorted by state and city. It was obtained from the FCC's WTB Database and is regularly updated
US Federal Government list
US Federal Government List - A list of all known TIS's National Park Service, National Forest Service, military base, and other Federal Government agency operated TIS. Much of this information is old and needs confirmation. If you have any updates, corrections, or confirmations please send them in so we can update the database for your fellow DXers.
The Overflow List
This is a list of TIS's and HAR Stations that are not listed in any of the other databases on this site. Most have been compiled from DXer loggings and older databases. A date or a "logging" notation at the end of a listing means the station has been recently heard. A listing without a date or a "logging" notation means that the station's existence needs to be confirmed.
TIS QSL Verification
Yes some stations do send qsl.
